While on a short trip to Medellin, my husband wanted to be sure not to miss a single game of the NBA Finals and saw that Patrick's would have it on. I Facebook messaged them to confirm and they responded quickly, also letting us know specials that evening.
When we arrived in our uber, there were other restaurants showing the game that tried to pull us in. We wanted to check out Patrick's first and are so glad we did.
For one thing, they had it on several screens of varying size with the volume high enough to hear the game but not so high as to not be able to talk to each other.
Soon after we arrived we started talking to and were invited to join someone there as early as we were, come to find out it was the proprietor, Patrick, himself. He was interesting and friendly, offering up drink recommendations that we readily took him up on, and were not disappointed. We were then joined by some of his friends, regular expats living locally. Had the most amazing time.
The venue itself was clean, open and friendly, reasonably priced. A place that had many regulars living locally, always a great sign. All were greeted like old friends.
Overall one of the best nights spent in Medellin, which was saying something. Can't wait to return on our...
Read moreOne bar visit the waitstaff printed my bill which I paid in pesos. Then days later the bartender texted me saying my card didn’t go through and I had to come back to pay. We checked the video and clearly she prints my bill and I immediately count the money and pay in pesos. I never paid with a credit card. They took my cash and put into her pocket which later she put into the tip jar (all captured on video) We checked the computer system to see the bill she printed at that exact time and it wasn’t even my bill that I had paid. This isn’t the first time this has happened but I always blindly paid with credit when it’s brought to my attention. Several others attending the bar have attested to the same experience. Not sure if it’s a cash scheme or a dumb mistake but the waitstaff and management really didn’t handle it properly.
He never did anything to correct the problem and the staff began treating me with total disrespect after that moment (maybe for interrupting their cash stealing scheme). Overall I think the service is poor and I would not suggest going to this establishment. I would always pay with credit to avoid the...
Read moreThis is one of the few places where you can watch American football. They have a large speaker that plays the English broadcast for the main game and several screens for each of the other games. There is outdoor seating under a veranda and a U shaped bar on the inside with a row of tables surrounding each side. I’m not sure if there is seating upstairs. Cans of Guinness adorn the roof rafters; presumably empty otherwise the Irish expats would be trying to climb the walls every time the bartender wasn’t looking.
I was there about 2 weeks after restaurants reopened from the quarantine and there were 12-15 people there. They were operating on about half the menu which was explained to me before I reviewed the menu. Beer was not on tap, but bottles were available in all the varieties. I spent 92,000 COP on the Celtic burger and 5 Club Colombias. It was a good sized burger, tasty, and the fries are thick cut and served with a thousand island style sauce.
Staff spoke English well and were attentive to my table. I recommend it as one of the few places that offer...
