I had the pleasure of dining at Mombasa Supper Club in Medellin, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The food was not just delicious, it was a culinary masterpiece. Each dish was beautifully presented, and every bite was bursting with flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant is truly something to behold. The decor is exquisite, creating a luxurious yet cozy atmosphere that is perfect for any occasion. The music selection added to the overall vibe, enhancing the dining experience. One of the highlights of my evening was the exceptional service provided by Valery. She was incredibly attentive, offering great advice on the menu and even taking the time to give me a tour of the three-story restaurant. Her passion for the restaurant and its cuisine was evident, and it added an extra layer of enjoyment to my meal. I couldn't resist capturing the beauty of each dish with my camera, as they were truly works of art. From the first course to the last, every plate was impeccably prepared and presented. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Mombasa Supper Club to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Medellin. Whether you're a food enthusiast, a lover of beautiful decor, or simply someone who appreciates great service, this restaurant has it all. It's an inspiring culinary journey that you won't soon forget.

Really wanted to love this place. Came on a Saturday night and expected it to be busy, which it was. We didn’t have a reservation but the hostess happily sat us at the bar for dinner service. Started with appetizer of burrata and the ceviche which were both good. The burrata came with a pistachio pesto which didn’t totally blend well with the rest of the dish. The drinks were good- I got the spicy margarita after recommendation from the server which was good- balanced and just a little spicy. The entree, unfortunately was pretty disappointing. We got the roasted chicken which came with rice and salad. The rice was unbearably sweet for some reason, and the chicken was very very salty and fatty. The spinach with tahini sauce seemed like an afterthought and did not really go. The appetizers and drinks were good enough to come back for but after the disappointing entree, not sure I would try this place again.

After being turned away by the Envy Rooftop Bar because two in our party were wearing dress shorts, we stumbled upon this place just across the street and were not only met with open arms but were given a tour of the entire place before being seated at a table on their beautiful rooftop. We wish we hadn’t eaten dinner before because the food looked and smelled incredible, but we did try several of their drinks and they were all amazing. They had a special menu where you could order food and drinks they were testing out; I don’t remember the name of the drink I got, but it was excellent. The rooftop had such a great vibe, there was live music, and as soon as you felt a raindrop, the roof closed and re-opened when clear. The service was outstanding. Our server, Vallery, was the best! She was friendly, fun, and attentive. We felt like old friends by the time we left. Highly recommend Mombasa; we’ll be back!

Dietary Restrictions Beware!

As avid travelers with a penchant for above-average dining experiences, my wife and I selected Mombasa in Medellín, Colombia, for our Saturday night based on glowing reviews, enticing photos, and an intriguing menu. We anticipated a memorable evening of innovative cuisine in the vibrant Provenza neighborhood, especially with our 8 PM reservation secured and confirmed by the team, including staff members Luisa and Moisés. Unfortunately, what unfolded was a series of missteps that highlighted significant areas for improvement if Mombasa aims to live up to its hype and become a reliable go-to spot. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated at a pleasant table, and our server efficiently took our initial drink orders—three varied cocktails that, despite a noticeable delay in arrival, proved to be the evening's highlight. Crafted with precision and flavor, they showcased the bar staff's talent and offered a brief glimmer of promise. The challenges began with our appetizer order: the grilled pulpo (octopus), which we intended to share. With my wife's celiac disease requiring strict gluten-free accommodations, I informed the server of our dietary needs. After consulting the kitchen, she returned with disappointing news—the pulpo contained soy sauce, rendering it unsuitable. This sparked a frustrating back-and-forth: dish after dish from the menu was deemed non-modifiable, with the chef insisting that alterations would compromise their "carefully planned creations." Ultimately, only two gluten-free options were available from the entire lineup, a shocking limitation for a restaurant positioning itself as upscale and creative. This inflexibility raised serious concerns. First, the complete absence of allergen disclosures on the menu is inexcusable—even fast-food chains do better at listing ingredients like soy sauce, which permeated nearly every dish (evoking a Japanese eatery more than a Colombian fusion spot). Second, the kitchen's refusal to adapt, even minimally, felt like a rigid assembly-line approach rather than the artistry of a passionate chef. In a city like Medellín, where peak-hour reservations lock diners in, such oversights can derail an entire evening and alienate health-conscious guests. Hoping to salvage the night, I opted for the menu's priciest entrée, the ribeye steak. Regrettably, it arrived dry, underseasoned, and utterly unremarkable—far below expectations for its premium price tag. By then, the cumulative letdowns made complaining feel futile; it was clear the restaurant wasn't invested in turning things around. Kudos to the bartenders for consistently excellent cocktails, but that's where the praise ends. To elevate Mombasa to a must-visit destination, ownership and the chef must prioritize transparency: explicitly list allergens and ingredients in dish descriptions, and disclose any no-modification policy upfront. Embrace flexibility to accommodate common restrictions, fostering a welcoming environment rather than a cookie-cutter one. With these changes, Mombasa could transform from a one-off disappointment into a standout in Medellín's competitive dining scene. As it stands, we'd advise fellow travelers to look elsewhere for a truly accommodating and...

Review for Mombasa Restaurant, Provenza, Medellín

If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Medellín, Mombasa in Provenza is a must-visit. From the moment we walked in, we were treated to an ambiance that effortlessly combined sophistication with warmth. The restaurant’s modern design, complemented by its lush greenery and soft lighting, set the perfect mood for the evening.

Now, onto the food—the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the ribeye steak. Perfectly cooked to a tender, juicy medium-rare (just as requested), it was seasoned to perfection and had a flavor profile that was both robust and nuanced. Paired with a glass of their expertly recommended red wine, the combination was simply divine. The wine list itself was impressive, showcasing both international and local options, making it easy to find the perfect pairing.

The service, however, truly set Mombasa apart. From start to finish, the staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly warm without being intrusive. They anticipated our needs, offered excellent recommendations, and made us feel like VIPs throughout the night. It’s rare to find a team that delivers such seamless and genuinely enthusiastic service.

Provenza is known for its bustling dining scene, but Mombasa stands out as a gem that offers more than just a meal; it’s an experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking to treat yourself, this restaurant is worth every peso.

Highly recommend for steak lovers, wine enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates exceptional service, by Valerie. A five-star...

From the moment we stepped inside Mombasa in Medellín, the environment exuded elegance. The ambiance was immediately striking, creating a sense of sophisticated charm that set the tone for the entire evening. The decor, the lighting, and even the subtle background music all seemed to harmonize, contributing to a truly refined atmosphere. This initial impression was only elevated by the exceptional food and service we experienced. Our waiter, Jose, was a particular highlight. His passion for the menu was evident as he expertly guided us through the dishes, explaining each element with such detail and enthusiasm that it heightened our anticipation. His recommendations were spot on, and his attentiveness throughout the meal was truly remarkable. It's not often you encounter such genuine care and knowledge, and Jose undoubtedly enhanced our dining experience. For my main course, I savored the beef tenderloin, which was cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with creamy mashed potatoes. My wife opted for the salmon, and even a small taste confirmed its deliciousness – the flavors were vibrant and fresh. Without a doubt, I would recommend Mombasa in a heartbeat to anyone in Medellín looking to have a beautiful time, whether with their wife or a group of friends. You absolutely will not regret choosing this exceptional restaurant for a...
