Heladería El Barco was hands down the best of the three ice cream shops we tried during our visit to Jacó! The service was super friendly and welcoming, and they had lots of different options to choose from. The servings were generous, the prices were affordable, and most importantly — the ice cream was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re craving a sweet treat while in Jacó!

We enjoyed the sundaes, good portion and fair price, however while eating in the seating area we were confronted by a couple with a very large dog that insisted on sharing their political views in a very aggressive manner. In a few minutes everyone cleared off of the patio. The couple said they go there every day so I would advise the owners to do something or they may drive away business.

Heladeria El Barco is a block away from Pops, another popular ice cream shop. Now I've been to Pops, and it's pretty good albeit a bit spendy. But El Barco is the OG! Their ice cream is to die for - rich in flavor, high in butterfat, and low overrun (IYKYK). Tonight I got the Copa 2 (cup with two scoops) with Nutella and Chocolate Oreo, and it was exceptional.
