D bar — Restaurant in San Rafael

This was one of the most interesting and fun places discovered while traveling. First, let's start with the treasure hunt to find the place. It's at a mall. Note I said AT a mall not IN. It takes you back to the days of an illegal speakeasy that you can only find through word of mouth, walking through narrow and dark walk ways and passwords at the door. While not as creepy as that sounds, finding the place was definitely an adventure. TIP:folks in the mall were ZERO help. FInd a mall security person to help you.

Now, once inside, that was so awesome. Nice music in an intimate space. We sat at the bar and in my opinion, the best place to watch the bar magicians showcase their talents making those amazing drinks. The drunk menu is creative and fun with ingredients If never think would go together. I did spicy, sour and just weird and lived them all. Cool vibes for a date night or somewhere to grab drinks with a small group before dinner. The cocktails were awesome and liquor selection was nice.

In terms of finding it… it does make it exciting. Follow GPS instructions to the location but don’t actually go into the mall. The surface parking lot you arrive at is where the bar is hidden underneath in the garage. take the staircase down to the garage level (Garage D - hence D Bar”), enter the garage and immediately look to your right.. across the way there is a narrow hallway. Loved the place. The atmosphere is great, cool music, nice decoration, the staff and bartenders were helpful and friendly, we even got a birthday drink on the house! The menu is pricey but it’s worth it. Cocktails were pretty strong and tasty, we tried 4 of them and they were delicious! The bartender helped us choose our drinks and they did not disappoint. We tried the seafood mix as well and it was great, totally recommended. Would definitely go back to try some...
