We were fleeing from the city center and a 20 euros pizza when we found Belvedere. The place seemed nice and the prices reasonable so we went inside.
We ordered the grilled meat dish for two. It was only 190 kunas and the included "cuts" seemed interesting.
While we were waiting the waiter came with a "surprise" appetizer we didn't order. We didn't touch it and when he came back he told him we didn't want it. He tried to say that he would have taken it back but we would have been charged for the service. I told him it sounded a little strange. So he said that everything would have been taken care of. In the end we didn't pay for it. On the cashier computer I saw that the price for the service had been already added and then subtracted. Not the most honest way of serving a customer, in my opinion.
But that was the only negative note of the night. The dinner was very good. The meat was cooked to perfection. I live in north eastern Italy so I know cevapi. I also cooked them many times. The ones on our plate where tender, almost melting in the mouth. And the wurstel (the hot dog) was slightly spicy and smoked. Very peculiar.
So, overall, a good restaurant to eat something local and not...
Read moreBelvedere is a peaceful restaurant with a classy vibe. The prices are on the upper side (around 30€ for a steak), but that’s pretty normal for a touristy area like Dubrovnik. The waitstaff speak excellent English and provide friendly service. Food preparation takes the usual restaurant time—about 15-20 minutes.
Now, let’s talk about the most important part—the food! I ordered the steak, which came with fries, and it was fantastic. Let’s just say the chef knew what he was doing! The desserts were equally impressive—I had vanilla ice cream, and it didn’t disappoint.
The view from the restaurant is another highlight, offering a lovely backdrop for your meal.
Overall, I’d give Belvedere a solid 4/5. Here’s why it doesn’t quite hit a perfect five:
The dining area is fairly small, so it can feel a bit cramped at times. The prices are high, and if you venture a bit outside the city, you’ll likely find similar quality at a lower cost. While the food was great, there’s always room to take it to that next level. That said, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Dubrovnik and want a nice meal...
Read moreWe ordered the bruschette, the mixed fish plate and the seafood spaghetti. The bruschette were tasty and a nice combination of ingredients. The mixed fish plate was really good. I'm not a great fish lover but the fish we had here was superb. The seafood around the fish was very tasty as well. Unfortunately the seafood spaghetti was very bad (that's why I gave 3 stars), the spaghetti were practically drowned into a mix of water, oil and white wine. Seriously, I had the impression of eating a salt-less seafood soup with some spaghetti inside. Since this restaurant claims to be italian (but it screwed up the only italian dish I ordered) I can't give more than 3 starts. The sauce of the pasta should have been left to be simmered more in the pan. Anyway the staff was very helpful and really really nice to us. Also, the prices were low compared to other place. I recommend this place...
