Great location--but think twice before booking a room here. The room's look reasonable, but after staying for 3 nights--they are not. First--the service. Be clear, this is NOT a hotel room. Service consists of making the bed and (meager) towels, empty trash and that's all. No dishes washed, there are no toiletries such as soap, shampoo, etc. I have no problem doing my own dishes, but there is absolutely no room to do that since the bathroom is tiny and there isn't anywhere to drain the dishes, etc. Another thing, the cleaner did not come by 2 of the days and so we ran out of toilet paper. Getting replenished is not straightforward since the building managers don't take care of that. There is a cleaning person who is there a few hours per day, but if she happens to not be there, you're out of luck (and there are no backup stock kept in the room)...Second, we were on the 3rd floor and on the second day the room started to smell like backup up sewage. We ended up opening up the windows and doors to air the place out. Third, the noise is UNBEARABLE! The windows have no insulation and since many of the rooms overlook the restaurant service area, the night and very early morning (ending at around 1:30AM and starting up again around 4 AM) are filled with unbelievably loud banging and carts being dragged thru the alley way. It is VERY loud and almost impossible to sleep thru. Fourth is the room construction. The building has clearly "settled" over the years and so the doors need to be forced open. this includes the outside room doors and inside bathroom doors. And I do mean FORCED open. In the end, we resorted to lifting the door while opening or closing so that it wasn't pressed against the floor--this resulted in the door coming off the hinges in the middle of the night, which we subsequently repaired. The settling was so bad that on the last day, the door jam shattered because the latch no longer cleared the latching hold in the door jam. this meant that the door could not be locked. Once again, GREAT location, but horrible execution. I would not recommend this to anyone. it is just very...
Read moreWe were planning to eat at Taj Mahal, but they were full for another 1.5 hours. We were very hungry, and we ended up going to this place, without checking their rating on Google. Had we checked and seen the 3.7 rating (as of 8 Aug 2023) we probably wouldn't have eaten here.
We really enjoyed our meal and we are glad we chose this place. In fact, it was the best meal we had in Dubrovnik during our trip, on our last night before departing. We had the fried sardines as our appetizer and they were so crispy and delicious, and the portion size was great, and the dipping sauce was good too. We ordered, for two people, two meals. The first meal was the lamb rack with fried potatoes. It was also very delicious and better than other lamb from other area restaurants. The lamb was soft and moist, yet chewy, just right for the texture. The other meal was the black risotto with a side of swiss chard. This was also very delicious. It was my first time having the black risotto, and I really enjoyed it. I do not have another experience to compare it to, but I imagine it was prepared authentically and tasted very good. I was expecting more of a seafood taste since it's made with cuttlefish but was surprised at how mild and smooth the flavor was. The swiss chard was also very good, basically like a fancy potatoes with a little cheese. It was delicious, but ended up being too much food since the portions were much larger than expected since many other restaurants in Dubrovnik seem to skimp on portions.
We truly enjoyed our meal and can highly recommend to others. This restaurant deserves to have a higher rating than 3.7, based on our...
Read moreOur visit in the restaurant was very disappointing. We wanted to order just food because we had our own water. However, after taking our order, the waiter asked twice - "What about drinks?" - even though we clearly said we didn't want any. Then he mentioned that the restaurant's policy requires ordering a drink, but this time he would make an exception... It was an embarrassing outlook for the staff that was overly direct, unkind and forcing us to order beverages, which is supposedly mandatory...
We ordered four hamburgers and a Caesar salad. The meat in the hamburgers was burnt, and the chicken in the salad was also overcooked. When it came time to pay, the waiter gave us the card terminal, informing us that the service charge wasn't included and asked what tip we wanted to give. The question was not - "Did you enjoy your meal and would you like to leave a tip?" but - "What tip do you want to give?" The waiter made a dissatisfied face when we didn't leave a tip. The total bill was 83,50 euro... Afterward, two of us went to the restroom, but the staff initially didn't want to let them in... Maybe because we didn't leave a tip…
While waiting, we noticed another couple also complaining about the service and saying they wouldn't leave a tip. Meanwhile, a group of waiters stood at the door, laughing at the situation
Additionally, we saw one waiter eating at a table among the guests, which I personally think is inappropriate in a professional setting.
Overall, the experience was very unprofessional and I hope the manager takes steps to improve their service, if...
