Please listen to me when I say this this not the place for you. Let me preface this by saying, I have worked in hotels and completely understand that things break and it’s out of our control. It’s the complete lack of communication from the management that I take issue with. To start, when I booked through Expedia weeks before my arrival I messaged the hotel and asked if I could come store my bags since I would be there prior to check in time. No answer. That should have been my first clue about their atrocious customer service. I forgot about it until the day before and messaged them again via Expedia. Still no answer. I found them via WhatsApp and messaged them at 7:29 am. Almost three full hours later they finally responded that yes, I could drop my luggage off (spoiler alert- I had given up on getting a response and already went straight to the property and dropped it off with the guy at check in). They also said that the lock on my door was broken and wouldn’t be fixed until the next day and they could provide other accommodation. Unfortunately I did not see their message because I was exploring old town and at the beach and didn’t realize there was an issue until I went to check into the room around 3:00 pm and could not lock the door. I went downstairs and informed the check in guy who said he would contact the manager. Ok no big deal, I thanked him and went back to my room and waited and waited, and finally contacted the manager via WhatsApp again and asked about another room if this one could not be fixed. They said there was no other rooms available tonight and that hopefully the repairman would be able to resolve the issue (3:45 pm). Why did they offer alternative accommodation if they had no rooms available?? I wait some more and finally decide I need to shower so I lock the bathroom door since I couldn't lock the actual room door. Fast forward to me being locked in the bathroom for a good ten minutes. Long enough for me to begin to panic because my phone was in the main room and would anyone hear me? I finally get the bathroom door open and clearly there has been no repairman during this time. I message the manager again (4:45pm) and asked if they knew when he would be here as I was getting very hungry now. I can see they are online. No response. Twenty min later I texted them a “?” Again I see them come online. Still no response. I finally just grab anything that important that I wouldn’t want stolen and head to dinner. In the meantime I contact Expedia to make sure this whole situation is documented. The Expedia representative also contacted the manager and did not get a response. 50 minutes later I message them again that this is unprofessional and unacceptable and also their listing is still showing on Kayak yet they said they had no rooms available. Like I said I totally get that these things happen. What upsets me is that their way of dealing with it was to completely ignore me instead of checking in and keeping me updated with the situation. Within minutes of me challenging them about their room availability they responded with a screenshot showing they were fully booked and said the repairman was on his way. OF COURSE as soon as I challenged them only then did I get a response! I’m sorry, Dubrovnik is not that big, was the repairman coming from Zagreb or something??? Finally, FINALLY the lock was fixed 3+ hours later. Then they said that they “tried to avert me” but they had my phone number and email address so clearly they didn’t try THAT hard. This could have been avoided had their communication been better and they kept me abreast of the situation or given me a timeframe or anything! In addition to this, the shower does not drain well so you’re standing in a 4 inch deep puddle the whole time, the little half door does nothing to keep the water in, the towels did not look very clean and had black marks on them and were so stiff and scratchy that I won’t need to exfoliate again until next year, and the hot water is SCALDING HOT which I found out the hard way. Lastly that cute lobby photo? Don’t expect to see that when you enter. It was full of boxes and miscellaneous crap and clearly used as a storage area, and the bar had liquid spilled on it at some point that had never been cleaned up. Also it’s above a couple of bars in a narrow alley so I knew it would be loud but it was LOUD. In now reading past reviews it seems that these problems have been going on since at least 2018 and management does not seem to care. Im sure they make plenty of money based on the location alone and know that people will continue to book because of this, so why bother to make improvements? They'll get their...
Read moreThe staff were amazing and accomodating 5 stars for them . I am a seasoned traveler world wide and I have stayed in a lot of 3-4 star places but this one I would rate as a 1.5 star. I was so disappointed in my room it looked like a run down storage room not like a nice comfortable room like the pictures display at all on the booking site. There was no air-conditioner as stated in the amenities list, nor was there a TV as stated in the amenities list as both TV and Air-conditioner were not working there was an issue with the room door unlocking it . Also the bedroom flooring was old and worn carpet that had stains and dried vomit on it. There is no safe in the bedroom as stated. There was an air cooler and pedestal fan in the room which only just made it bearable on a hot day and night. There is no parking if you have a car . There are five flights of narrow stair to climb with luggage. If your on the top floor. There is not lift. The room has a very much lowered wedge shape wall /ceiling that takes up a lot of room and you can injure your head if your not careful in the dark. There is no concierge as stated in fact most of what has been stated as the amenities and parking is a big lie as they either don't exist or they don't work. With what I paid I could gave gotten a better room for the same money somewhere. The managerr never showed up so I could talk to them about the issues. From what I have read else where in reviews this accomodation is really bad and in my thoughts this place and the owner of this business need a good shake up or shut down as they really don't care about the clients. It just about ripping people off and taking money. I highly recommend not booking this place as it...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hamlet Bed and Breakfast (room no. 1) for two nights (20 and 21 September 2025). The location of the hotel was good. However the hygiene and sanitation of the hotel was deplorable. The toilet was stained and dirty, the carpet in our room was musty, and we had to kill two cockroaches in the middle of the night. Since there was no reception available at night, we had to handle the situation ourselves. We found an insecticide near the reception counter, borrowed it, sprayed the room, and had to stay outside for about 20 minutes. While looking for the cockroach and spraying the entire room, we checked under the bed and found a significant amount of dirt. We found a large hole in the bathroom ceiling near the exhaust fan, and we believe cockroaches are entering through it. We took photos of the cockroaches and showed it to the guy at the reception the next morning, and all he said was an underwhelming “oh, I don’t know. I will tell the owner.” After that, there was no response or feedback. No investigation, explanation or reassurance whatsoever. We didn’t need an apology, but we expected a more appropriate response to a disgusting and horrifying experience. Needless to say, cockroaches carry bacteria and other known pathogens. The least the staff could have done was say, we will investigate, or give reassurance that they will do better.
We do not...
