Restaurant Don Quijote — Restaurant in Grad Hvar

We had a HORRIBLE experience!!! I do NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!!

First of all, we called at the restaurant two times and made a reservation and when we came the table was not booked, but honestly that was not a problem for us at all we got the table and were seated immediately…

Second we started ordering, at the beginning my girlfriend told the waiter that she can not eat gluten and then he told us that some of the dishes from the menu are not available - that she can not order the risotto she wanted because it contains gluten and signed on three main dishes that she can eat, one of them was tuna stake and she decided on that, i ordered fresh fish and for the starter we ordered tuna tartare. We got the starter and only started eating when waiter already brought the main courses… as i said our mains were fish and tuna steak and both have to be eaten fresh, he did apologise that it is his mistake so we said it is ok, but when we finished the starter and my girlfriend took her main course and started looking on the plate there were crackers all over the dish so because she has coeliac asked her main dishes to be prepared again and since my fish was already cold and we would have to eat separately they prepared new plates for both of us. When we got second plates we started eating and when my girlfriend took her first bite she knew something is not ok - on the plate next to tuna stake there was bulgur wheat, which obviously contains gluten (she taught it was rice because it was already dark) - she started panicking because she has strong reactions to gluten if something is contaminated and will probably have health problems (puke and digestive issues)… We called the other waiter who confirmed that it is actually gluten and he apologised, the waiter that served us only said he forgot…

The restaurant is one of the priciest in hvar and something like that should not happen at all we left the table, without even offering...

The view from our table was incredible and our server and the hostess were great. Our server helped us and made great recommendations and made for a great experience. The one thing I will say was that we picked out a 60$ bottle of wine and the sommelier came over to let us know that it was actually a 94$ bottle of wine and that the menu was wrong and just quickly said “is this still good?” as she was presenting it. I didn’t really love that and then she came back to show us some similar wines in the same price range and still showed us bottles 15-30$ more expensive than the one we originally picked. Then, when we went to order our food it said that the ribeye steak was 18$ for 100g but we were told that those cuts are actually sold out and they only have 500g cuts which would also be a different price. It kind of felt like prices were changing on the fly which made me really weary. I also ordered an arugula cherry salad which consisted solely of arugula and cherry tomatoes( no dressing) which I guess is exactly what it said but was pretty underwhelming.
