Helvetia Hostel — Hotel in Grad Hvar

Pros: location does not get any better, you are a 5 minute walk from the ferry port the travel agencies the bus station a lot of beaches the main square three supermarkets and every restaurant/bar/cafe, always felt very safe walking home at night, extremely clean hostel, the bed sheets smell amazing and the bathrooms are cleaner than most hotels, facilities are great you have separate shower and toilet a big communal kitchen and a roof top terrace with the best view of Hvar, because the hostel isn’t massive the facilities are never over crowded, in 4 days we never once had to wait to use the shower, there are lockers in the room one for each person with a separate key for each person so it feels very safe leaving your valuables there and the lockers are big enough to fit your entire suitcase, the owner is very friendly and will always ask how you are getting on, WiFi and aircon work perfectly, all the guests we met were really nice people||Cons: it is not a super sociable hostel so aside from having a chat with the other guests I wouldn’t expect much more interaction, definitely not a party hostel like a lot of others, the rooms and the furniture are extremely basic and old school, very small spaces can get a little cramped when you are sharing a dorm with other people, you can leave your luggage at the hostel after check out but it will be left out in the hallway of the hostel right by the front door which is often unlocked and unsupervised so we didn’t feel very...

Best location in Hvar, best views in Hvar and nicest staff in Hvar. I really can't describe how welcoming and lovely Rino the owner is. We arrived just before check in but he welcomed us nonetheless. He gave us a seat and went through a few things for us to do and things to see. We stayed at the hostel for 8 nights and everytime that he saw us he made sure that everything was good and we were happy. He gave us some of his homemade wine also which was very tasty! The view from the rooftop here, really is the best in Hvar. There is no other places with a rooftop so its pretty special. It is also very centrally located. You can walk to the wharf under 1 minute. Cake shops, restaurants, cafes everything is right at the door step. Beds are really comfy, the sheets and towels great and everything is always so clean. The lady who cleans is always up early and making sure that everything is good to go for people to wake. The kitchen is great also, a good size and always very clean. The hostel is really conveniently located, just off the waterfront. However, be aware that you'll have to walk up a decent amount of stairs with your luggage.

The rooms are all nice and clean, and you get your own locker as well. The AC was really good in the room and much appreciated during the summer. There's also a kitchen on the second or third floor I believe.

You won't find much in terms of amenities and activities beyond that though. There's a rooftop area, but other than that, not much of a gathering spot. Overall good hostel and decent pricing all...
