Mediterraneo Dine & Wine — Restaurant in Grad Hvar

I had the opportunity to visit a restaurant that left me breathless - welcome to a gastronomic paradise! After traveling half the world in search of perfect dishes, I finally found it here. This is one of those places that stands out from the crowd, and the quality of the food and service is extraordinary in every sense.

Let's start with the fish soup I ordered as an appetizer. The flavor and freshness I experienced with every spoonful were indescribable. The rich soup was perfectly balanced, with plenty of juicy pieces of fish and complementary spices. When I had that soup, I felt like I was by the seaside, enjoying the aroma and taste of freshly caught fish.

The main dish I ordered was tuna. It was prepared in a unique way that preserved its freshness and juiciness. The pieces of tuna were perfectly cooked, with a crispy crust that revealed the succulent meat underneath. Every bite was an explosion of flavors. The sweetness of the tuna was extraordinary, and it paired wonderfully with the accompaniments like vegetables and wasabi. It was a combination that delighted my taste buds.

My companion also chose the fish soup as an appetizer and the sea bream fillet in shrimp and truffle sauce as the main dish. After tasting the soup, she was equally delighted. The freshness of the fish and the flavors that intertwined were absolutely incredible.

Her main dish, the sea bream fillet, was exceptional. The fresh fish was perfectly prepared, with a delicate texture and subtle flavors. The shrimp and truffle sauce added a sophisticated touch to the dish and complemented the flavors in the best possible way.

The restaurant staff deserves special recognition as they provided outstanding service. They were very kind, attentive, and made sure we felt welcome throughout the entire meal. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and provided us with recommendations that perfectly matched our tastes and preferences.

The oldest, prettiest and most outstanding restaurant in Hvar! I first visited Mediterraneo in 2022 and the food & service was incredible. The restaurant itself is quaint & romantic and I fell in love with it, there and then! I came back here in May 2023, warmly welcomed and greeted like an old friend.

Again this year, the service, food and attention to detail has been exceptional. Definitely a must-visit restaurant when you come to Hvar. I highly recommend coming on your first or second day in Hvar because you’ll almost certainly want to come back on your last night!

Food My food recommendations to date are the duck, boscarin beef carpaccio, tuna tartar, seafood risotto, tuna and finally the t- bone steak. I had a fabulous dessert here too this year - see photo below. Sadly, I don’t remember what it was called - but definitely one to order!

Wines and Spirits This place has an extensive wine menu and a beautiful cellar, which you may dine in.

The homemade honey grappa served as an aperitif and digestif is beautiful. It’s just such a shame that you can’t buy a bottle as I’d take several home with me!

I’ve noticed that walk ins are always welcome at this restaurant but it’s better to book if you’d like a table between 7-8.30pm as it’s always super busy.

Romantic, stunning restaurant, tucked away, just out of sight off the main harbour. Past the olive trees lies a small, flower-lined court yard, surrounded by hundred year-old buildings. This restaurant is a hidden gem and without doubt, the best I’ve eaten in. The food is delicious. The service and attention to detail from front of house through to the waiters, is second to none. I'm not sure where to even begin, but to say that we enjoyed this restaurant would be an understatement. From the moment my boyfriend and I were seated at our table, we were treated to the most wonderful and special dining experience we have ever had. We were lucky to have come across this place by sheer chance, as the lovely and sweet host, Nathalie, approached us with a free table for dinner as we were desperately looking for a good place without any reservations. Right when you are seated, the waiter welcomes you with a free shot of their homemade honey medica (schnapps). The staff truly make you feel special and are beyond attentive to your needs. The way the explain the meaning behind some of their dishes was an added bonus. Not only is the staff amazing, but the food was some of the best we've ever had.

My boyfriend ordered the Black Risotto, and I had the Makaruni. Both were two of the best dishes we've ever had. We savored each bite and didn't want it to end, and I loved my pasta so much that I ordered another one to take away. We loved our dining experience so much that we immediately made a reservation come back again the next evening.

On our last night in Hvar, we made sure to stop by the restaurant to say goodbye to Nathalie and the staff, and we all shared a last shot of honey medica. Nathalie asked if we wanted to have dinner there one last time, and even though they were very busy, she managed to get us a table last minute. In total, we had dinner here 3 out of the 4 nights we spent in Hvar.
