Completely different from the Fig in Split, majority of the servers here are unhelpful and unfriendly. The waiting system is different here, unlike Split where you wait in line; they take your name here and you’re waiting seated on the outskirts of the restaurant. Not knowing this (since there’s no clear signage about this change of queuing system) we sat down with the rest of the people, thinking we’d be acknowledged as in line for the restaurant. I later let the waitress know (after realising the different system) we’d been waiting since a large number of people had arrived after us, she said okay and it’d be five minutes. The same waitress later addressed people arriving after us and lead them to their table before us, later saying there was a table still for us. But this caused a huge unnecessary drama, as the couple lead to their table were rude Americans who knew they arrived before us but didn’t care whatsoever to steal a table from underneath us—and therefore was served and given their food before us. They’d also refused to bring the eftpos machine to our table citing that there’s “no reception”, even tho they brought it happily for the rude Americans just a few metres away. Also staff should not be expecting tips—especially when the service is below bare minimum, this isn’t America. The food is not as good here, potatoes are undercooked with their breakfast burrito and the burger I had for lunch was bland and dry. The wait staff needs a major readjustment in how they run here—and maybe do a workshop with the staff from Split on how to better their customer...
Read moreHearty, punchy, really flavoursome and big portion food! Fig has a varied menu of different dishes from Mexican, South Asian and European/Western with their own twist and use of local ingredients. The Chimichurri Potatoes were to die for, best dish hands down and so moorish. The Green Chili Chicken Burrito tasted great, lots of flavour and was very big (2 could share this). The burrito could have been spicier but they are probably catering for the average spice tolerance. Their take on the Chicken Korma was something different, not your usual korma with basic and minimal spices being used but actually was very pleasing to eat and very warming, the bread served in the side was delicious and perfect to mop up the sauce.
The staff were super friendly, always smiling and happy to help. Service was very good, we were not waiting long for food. The outdoor seating is in a very cosy but vibrant side street typical of Hvar restaurants and was a relaxing place to eat (taller people may struggle a bit in the outdoor seating and proximity of...
Read moreI ate at Fig 3 times while visiting HVAR, once for Breakfast and twice for lunch. I ordered the California toast on GF bread and it was delicious! For lunch I ordered the Roast vegetables on Hummus which was so delicious.. it was the reason I came back the next day to try lunch for the second time! However, this time I ordered the Vegetarian Korma and it was very bland and very watery. I would call it watery curried soup. I even tried adding salt to give it some flavour. Being that I am Gluten Intolerant, they gave me some chips on the side instead of flatbread which was very thoughtful. However, I think maybe some rice would be a good suggestion, as the curry is so thin and watery, it really needs something to soak it up. I ended up leaving the curry as it really wasn’t palatable at all. I would definitely go back and order the roast Veges or the breaky again though. They...
