Riva Marina - Hvar Hotel — Hotel in Grad Hvar

Overlooking the picturesque and lively port of Hvar sits the Riva Marina Hotel. With its original architecture the hotel certainly lives up to its description of charming with a brilliant location.|Our very favourable experience with the Riva Marina Hotel started before we even set foot in the hotel. Thanks to the efforts of the Transfer Coordinator, our transfers from Split old town to the Riva Marina Hotel on Hvar were arranged with us being collected from our previous hotel in Split, driven to the ferry port, given the tickets for the fast ferry and directed onto the ferry to Hvar.|Upon arrival we were met by a representative from the hotel and escorted the short distance to the hotel. Check-in was seamless and welcoming, with our first-floor room offering all the usual facilities, bathrobes, safe and minibar etc. The room had a perfect view of the sea, town and steeply rising hillsides; it was one of the few with a balcony for which we were very grateful.|Without a doubt the highlight of this hotel was the breakfast (included in the room rate) which featured the most extensive cold buffet that we have ever experienced. If that was not enough to satisfy hunger, an a la carte menu offered at least twenty further choices of freshly cooked dishes, accompanied by a choice of cappuccino, caffe latte, chocolate or tea. This was presented by the most wonderful staff, all of whom spoke very good English. Breakfast it should be noted could be eaten either inside or outside at one of the many tables overlooking then harbour. We have had the privilege of staying in many hotels throughout the world and we both agree that the Riva Marina should win a “best breakfast” prize.|The same outside expansive seating area was available at all times for cocktails, coffee, light snacks or lunch or dinner. It was a wonderful, comfortable place to relax and watch the world go by, in the very heart of Hvar harbour.|The only bad thing about our stay was having to leave! We cannot wait to stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel...

If one can give no stars at all, then this place deserves zero star. We paid quite high rate for one night during high season (308€), they served 50€ more but didn’t mention it until I noticed the total amount difference myself and asked. We booked a superior room which isn’t spacious at all, we struggle with two luggages lying in the room, and also this room has sea view but our window isn’t sound proof so very loud at night until the parties end, which they never do…and it’s super cold in the room so I asked for another blanket but got only a duvet without a bedsheet cover, she did mention that in the phone but not until I called again half an hour later after my first room service call…the breakfast was actually quite ok, despite we waited for quite a while for the scrambled eggs and they serve old fruits and prosciutto…the long waiting time can be explained by the uneven task division - one guy only served water and juice and the other girl took the orders, brought all the food out and clearly she’s got too much on her plate…I mean don’t get me wrong the staff appeared to be welcoming and friendly but basing on the actual service I feel that they did it only because they’ve been told so and they...

The Riva Marina is a fabulous hotel. We did experience a few teething problems when we arrived but these were soon sorted.. These were all due to them recently (15 days!!) Re opening after a complete refurbishment... The location overlooking the marina is stunning.. You could spend all day in the outdoor area people watching and being serviced anything you desired... We loved the buzz.. Our room had a balcony with a view of the harbour.. Its was compact but has everything you need.. The bed was super comfy with high quality linen. All the staff at the hotel just want to please. We had breakfast on the terrace the array of food offered are all of high quality.. They have a great selection of cooked breakfasts which are individually cooked for you.. Its a special hotel, the lounge area is quiet if you just want some time or to do some work We really wish them well. Our top tip is to catch a local water taxi and visit some of the smaller islands the sea sparkles the views are beautiful.. We will be back to stay.. Thank you for looking after us.. Shelley...
