Konoba Zvijezda Mora — Restaurant in Grad Stari Grad

We spotted this place earlier in the day when it was closed and decided to come back in the evening because it was such a nice location. Not the friendliest of greetings but put it down to the fact that it was busy. When we finally got to order, there was little patience and the waiter was very snappy. The longer we waited and observed what was going on, we noticed that the waiter was super friendly to the larger groups and those spending more money. It was quite blatant. Didn't want a whole bottle of wine (for once!!) so we had two glasses of the only red by the glass. It was nasty. I have never, ever left wine before but we just couldn't drink it. The food was average to ok and the location was pretty but due to the waiting and unfriendliness I wouldn't recommend this place. Also, asking whether you'll be paying the bill via cash or card, seems slightly suspect. Didn't notice any hidden charges but it's not like they bought the card machine out with the bill (that involved another long wait), so why did it matter? As an aside, some of the good reviews on here seem dubious, especially when accompanied by similar photos to other favourable reviews. We didn't take any photos because we didn't feel relaxed or...

We had mussels as an appetizer, a bottle of wine, then a whole sea bream and prawns as the main. The food was really quite good, the location is very nice and the service was good. Would be an easy 5 star except that they added an 8€ portion of eggplant to the sea bream without us having ordered it. It was not listed on the menu nor explained to us prior to ordering. The waiter didn’t give an explanation except that it was included (although it clearly wasn’t since it was a separate line item on the reciept). It leaves a bitter taste that they’d do that just for 8€ more from us. 110€ total for 2. Also worth noting that they didn’t have the initial wine we asked for from the menu, and the bottle we got instead was 7€ more. Konoba Zvijezda Mora is definitely a hidden gem of Stari grad!

Situated almost on Stari grad riva it is very quiet with charming atmosphere of small island street The ambiance is perfect and it really makes you feel like the time has stopped. There was live music in the evening, a violin accompanied by a piano playing covers, and they were absolutely amazing! Not too loud, just perfect background music.

The food was amazing! We had the black cuttlefish risotto and fresh grilled fish of the day recommended by the waitress. The black cuttlefish risotto was the best I ever had! And having had many, including my grandmas (which I thought was the best until I tried this one) I can confidently say that it is the best! So full of flavour and the cuttlefish was perfectly cooked. Absolutely knocked my socks off! The grilled fish was delicious as well. No complaints!
