How is this place rated so highly? We came here with high expectations and left very disappointed. Atmosphere uncomfortable, 6 of us were stuffed onto a small table and it just felt tight and enclosed. One of us ordered a cocktail and they couldn't finish it. It tasted like a breakfast juice and couldn't taste alcohol. (Berry frozen cocktail) We ordered bottle of rose wine, two glasses came (admittedly they ended up giving these on the house but the server made a point of showing us he didn't make the mistake and his colleague did and someone was going to "get sacked tonight") joke or not, it wasnt funny. We ordered 2 x petal garlic bread to start, one with pepperoni and one with mozzarella. Then our mains to follow..we were to share the breads.. The mains arrived along with one starter only. We said to the waitress we wanted them as starters but she just said its the way the kitchens done it and that's how it is. I get very overwhelmed when there's too much food on the table so this totally ruined the meal for me instantly. The only decent main was the orzotto. It was very very tasty. The cannelloni smelt and looked burnt and the base of the pizza was burnt. The chicken mushroom pasta very basic not much sauce. We was not asked at any point how our meal was, we were being ignored and noone approached us. We saw another table send back a dish and when the waiter was heading to the kitchen we saw him pull a hair out of the plate... We waited for what felt like forever when the server came to us to clear our plates and when we told him one of the starters didnt arrive just so they wouldnt charge us for it, he was extremely hostile and defensive and told us point blank we only ordered one "because you are sharing" ... he tried to make out we had made the mistake!?? We were only saying something because we didnt want it on the bill, at this point we were so fed up we needed to leave because we were very uncomfortable. When we left, my dad had a word with a waiter who we hope was the manager because the guy serving us needs a talking to and to learn how to deal with constructive criticism. Maybe this place has gotten too big for its boots with the good reviews? We will NOT...

Read moreWe've been all over Italy because of their phenomenal cuisine. Especially every corner of the southern part, known for its cuisine. In Bella Italy menu pizza is called "Neapolitan pizza", and it's the reason why we came to Bella Italy. They have the right oven for Neapolitan pizza and that's all of "Neapolitan" you'll find in this pizza. The dough has absolutely nothing in common with Neapolitan style dough, so... this is a restaurant with ok pizza, but don't call it Neapolitan because it is just not. We ordered Margherita as it's always the best one to check the "Neapolitan" quality, it was bready and we couldn't eat the edges because you have to chew them the hard way. With real Neapolitan pizza we never throw away the edges because they are magic... here our plates had a lot of leftovers. And you DON'T put basil on pizza before putting it into the owen, but after you take it out, fresh basil leaves! Cocktails are pretty "thin" on alcohol and of a pale taste. The restaurant is nice, staff friendly and polite, music is modern - not alike italian restaurants, but in Ayia Napa I guess nothing is traditional so Bella Italy is...
