Das Los Mexicanos ist von den mehreren mexikanischen Restaurants in der Gegend das zentral gelegendste und laut Google Bewertungen auch das beliebteste. Da unser Hotel ganz in der Nähe war und ich gerne mal mexikanisch esse, bin ich mit meiner Frau hin.

Was direkt aufgefallen ist: es ist immer super voll und oft ist sogar eine Schlange davor. Wir waren relativ früh da und sind zu zweit auch gut ohne Reservierung rein gekommen, ich weiß aber nicht, ob man da später am Abend als Gruppe noch so spontan reinkommen würde. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und überhaupt: der Service war den ganzen Abend über extrem nett und Aufmerksam - sehr schöne Sache. Durch die Lage direkt an der Hauptstraße und dadurch, dass der Laden sehr voll war, war es recht laut. Man konnte sich noch gut unterhalten und die Stimmung war auch gut, aber für einen ganz gemütlichen und ruhigen Abend würde ich es wahrscheinlich nicht empfehlen.

Die Speisekarte hatte alles, was man sich so bei einem Mexikaner vorstellen würde. Was ich schön fand: bei den meisten Hauptgerichten konnte man variieren, ob man zum Beispiel Hühnchen, Gemüse oder Rinderhack etc. haben wollte. Dadurch gab es für mich dann entsprechend viele vegetarische Optionen. Die Getränkekarte war jetzt nicht super umfangreich, aber es gab sowohl Bier als auch Cocktails. Wir haben uns am Ende für die Sangria entschieden und die war extrem süß - hat nicht so ganz unseren persönlichen Geschmack getroffen. Zum Abschied gab es noch Margheritas auf's Haus, was sehr cool war - die waren aber auch wirklich, wirklich süß und ähnlich wie die Sangria nicht besonders stark. Zumindest war damit die Nachspeise mehr oder weniger inkludiert.

Als Vorspeisen hatten wir Chili Cheese Fries und vegetarische Tostadas - beides richtig gut. Meine Frau war mit ihren Chili Cheese Fries sehr zufrieden: sehr gutes Fleisch, alles schön frisch und lecker gewürzt. Meine Tostadas waren auch sehr gut gemacht und für eine Vorspeise auch recht groß. Normalerweise bin ich kein riesen Fan von Tomaten und hier waren viele Tomaten drauf, aber hey: die Qualität war so gut, dass ich das in genau der Kombination super lecker fand.

Ich wurde außerdem gefragt, ob ich es etwas schärfer möchte. Na klar - unbedingt! Ich habe dann sowohl für die Tostadas, als auch für die Fajitas eine scharfe Sauce und Jalapeños bekommen. Das war beides lecker und hat vor allem den Tostadas nochmal eine leckere Note gegeben, aber: beides war halt leider überhaupt nicht scharf. Schade, dass man sich nicht traut, was für die Schärfeliebhaber unter uns auf Lager zu haben.

Die Hauptgerichte waren dann vor allem eins: groß. Wir sind beide hungrig rein gegangen und haben es trotzdem nicht geschafft, aufzuessen. Meine Frau hatte mit Käse gefüllte und Speck ummantelte Prawns, die an sich schon riesengroß waren - so fette Garnelen habe ich schon lange nicht mehr gesehen. An sich waren sie wohl okay, aber der Speck war etwas labbrig, was meiner Frau nicht ganz so gefallen hat. Außerdem fand sie den einfachen Parboiled Reis dazu nicht so gut.

Meine Gemüse-Fajitas waren sehr lecker und die Tortillas ganz frisch selbst gemacht. Etwas seltsames Verhältnis zwischen Tortillas und Füllung. Ich meine, das ich sie ziemlich voll gemacht habe und trotzdem hatte ich noch über die Hälfte vom Gemüse übrig, als mir die Tortillas ausgegangen sind, aber: ich habe sofort neue bekommen, als ich danach gefragt habe.

Insgesamt fand ich das Essen dort gut. Schade, dass es nicht schärfer ging. Außerdem waren die Getränke nicht so unser Ding. Dafür war der Service großartig, das Essen reichlich und die Qualität insgesamt echt gut. Außerdem kann man hier als Vegetarier oder auch Veganer ziemlich gut essen.
