Clarabel — Restaurant in Ayia Napa

It was early afternoon when we arrived by bus from Larnaca.

Before checking into the hotel, we decided to grab a bite to eat.

At the bus station, we met a young man from Romania who is studying hotel management in Cyprus and currently doing an internship at a hotel in Ayia Napa. Thinking he was a local, we asked him for a restaurant recommendation – and although he wasn't from Cyprus, he gladly suggested a few places, including a restaurant called Clarabel.

Restaurants in Ayia Napa usually open in the afternoon, and this one had just opened its doors. Apart from one table with locals (always a good sign), we were the only guests there.

Still, the atmosphere was wonderful for that time of day, and we received warm and attentive service. We ordered fresh fish and calamari with side dishes, arugula salad, and tzatziki—and of course, some ouzo.

The food arrived quickly, freshly prepared, and was absolutely delicious.

By the end of the meal, we had cleaned our plates, to the great satisfaction of the man who served us.

We’ll definitely be back to try their much-praised steaks.

Just awful! The service was beyond slow! The staff are running around like headless chickens and what looked like the boss was just shouting at them and getting cross. There was no organisation there and the staff looked like they didn’t know what they were doing! Our main came 1hr after our starter, then others get served first! Didn’t even get asked if we wanted any other drinks and when they did walk near the table you couldn’t grab them as they darted the other way! Went to the bar to ask how long it would be to be told ‘soon’! When it finally did arrive the chips were soggy and the burger was bland and boring! My husbands steak mignon was AWFUL and overcooked with soggy chips again! We had to ask the table next to us for mayonnaise as no one came over to even ask if it was ok! Clearly don’t know how to run the place! Table near us had food given to them, then the boss walks over and takes it away! It was like something out of a comedy show!! I would not recommend this place at all and we will not be returning! There are lots of far better restaurants...

I came here yesterday to eat alone at this restaurant, and I waited 20 minutes for the extremely rude man to come and take my order in contrast to a very sweet blonde waitress who politely told me that she will call someone right away unlike the man who take's orders. actually she went and told him to come take my order and he just made faces and walked away.After 10 minutes, the same girl came back to ask me if everything was okay and brought someone over to take my order. After i finished my meal, the same blonde girl was cleaning the nearby tables, and i expressed my complaint to her. She politely apologised and promised me that the next time she would personally serve me in the best possible way. And just for the understanding and responsibility she took for the the another waiter and she apologised to me so many times even tho it wasn't her fault, i will make the effort to...
