This is a legendary place that the sabır (patience) kebap was invented. It is only sold here in old Lefkoşa town. The taste is delicate, delightful abd sensuous- in one word: sublime! It's for the kebap connosieur. Using best beef available, the very finely spiced minced beef is put around flat skewers, about an inch wide, and cooked slowly over charcoal. It is served in special pide bread, all lovely, crisp and smoky on the outside and juicy on the inside with a few slices of sweet tomatoes slipped into the bread. Suggest you have it with some natural yogurt and parsley. The 'secret' formula has not changed since I have known the place, back in the 1960s, and I expect the place goes back even longer. Turkish Cypriots are the main customers - both in the restaurant and in offices and workplaces in the area. No other dishes are sold here which shows the enduring love people have for the kebap, based on taste and taste alone. The food is very cheap. Don't come here if you want great decor, or false smiles from the proprietors. You won't get it. There is a clean toilet. If you eat one thing in Northern Cyprus, this must be the Patience kebap. Wondered why it's called the Sabır (Patience) Restaurant? Well, you may just have to wait a while before you are served. Best to ask how long it will take for the food to be...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant, and it left a lasting impression. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful and peaceful, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the service was impeccable. We ordered three different dishes, and each one was fantastic—delicious, flavorful, and made with high-quality ingredients. Before the main meal, they served a special bread filled with halloumi cheese alongside a mix of olive oil and balsamic sauce. This simple starter took me back to my childhood and reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking, which made the experience even more memorable. I’m truly grateful to all the staff for making this such a...
Read moreThe restaurant name Sabır means "Patience" so be prepared to wait a while when you place an order. There are few tables to sit inside which are decorated by antique looking paintings which gives it some degree of atmosphere. The place is not clean. You can clearly see grease on the tables and dust everywhere. Corners are covered by siper webs. As for the food, there is only one item on the menu. For me 'kofte' it was ok, nothing special. The staff were unfriendly and looked bored. I won't be...
