Where should I start. Maybe it was all my fault as I expected to get something similar of what I am used to from Germany in this restaurant. My basic expectations are to blame and not the waitress who had no knowledge of what they offer in the restaurant and had to run for each ordered item to the kitchen to ask if the ordered dish is on their menu (I would like to clarify that I ordered from the menu).
After 9 painful minutes of lost in translation the friendly but clueless waitress put all our orders in the system.
After 15min the first dishes arrived. Out of 5 ordered dishes 2 were actually what we ordered, the other were random dishes from the menu.
The quality of the food was acceptable, you can compare it to a cheap restaurant in Koeln/Cologne :)
We tried to order 3 different bottles of wine which each time never made it to our table. After 5-10 minutes of no wine appearing we asked the waitress and we got each time the same answer (reapeted three times): stating they do not have this wine. We asked friendly after the third missed bottle what kind of wine do they actually have ... We ended up with a Franziskaber beer 😅
By the way; When we asked for the 3 dishes which we intially ordered out of the 5, we got a friendly and suprising: no you did not order this, you ordered what I brought. When we asked what the dish then please is which she brought the waitress had to run to the kitchen to ask. Surprisingly those dishes where not even on the menu pages we ordered from.
So long story short, if you are up for a funny restaurant version of charades and you like food which has German names and you won't be offended by a friendly but slightly lost service, then I can recommend this restaurant.
For me it was sadly only a two/three stars experience as I brought my wife and kids here and told them about papa's home country kitchen...
But I can recommend to visit the restaurant and experience it yourself. A restaurant with a kind of German look and feel but an service which brings a special flair to the table.
I will go back alone for sure as the Bayerische Wurstplatte is worth the rest of the experience (as long as you are a fan of...
Read moreGood spot! Smoked mackerel and goulash(if you like spicy food) are the best choices. The beer selection isn't very extensive (Hofbrau and Hausgemachtes), but it's of good quality. There aren't many people there, which was surprising to me.
Update as of 2024/05/17. My previous rating was 5 out of 5, but I decided to change it to 1 for both food and service because of a shameful incident for any restaurant. I ordered 2 portions of smoked mackerel online but received 1 portion divided into 2 boxes. I am confident about this because I have ordered this dish many times before, both online and offline, and I always received the same size. This is how to lose the respect of...
Read moreIt's been quite a while since we've been here before and we were surprised to see only a few tables taken on a Saturday night. Nonetheless we had a wonderful night. The burgers were tasty and nicely cooked, the service was polite and genuinely friendly and most of all the atmosphere was fantastic. There are many German beers to try but unfortunately no IPA's which I personally like. For only 6 Euros, you can order a 3 glass tray with a variety of beers to taste (not...
