I have been a staple customer of this particular Wagamama venue for over 6 years and I hope that the management team is paying attention to customer reviews.
First of all, Wagamama Cyprus had significantly reduced the variety of the menu. It is simply not interesting to eat, there are no signatures and dishes are more or less rice with some gravy/curry and vegetables/meat on top. The curry is far from being authentic. The 80% of ingredients in the dishes are the same and those dishes does not taste different at all. Do you really think that the rice is the only grain eaten in Asia? Where did your signature soup and noodle dishes go? There are so many interesting dishes that you can enrich your menu with, inexpensive, creative and easy to produce and market. Why sticking mostly to the rice?
The meat quality is bad. And by bad, I mean it. Your chicken was not freshly cooked. It was served cold on top of the hot dish. Moreover, the breast was so squished and thinly sliced that I could say it is a disgrace to the poor animal. You also market it as grilled. I know well how grilled chicken looks and tastes. The chicken that you served was pre-boiled and then quickly charred to trick the customer. Zero juices, raw hay has better taste and texture. Grilled salmon was dry as well, you have visibly reduced protein portions in your dishes as well, besides sizing down on other ingredients. The portion sizes had consistently went down by 30- 40% while you have increased your prices. It is noticeable to your frequent customers. If you decide to raise prices - keep your standards, portion sizes and quality at least. Otherwise it is simple robbery and disrespect.
Your raw fish quality is doing even worse, than the meat. Tuna is bearable, although the type of tuna that you serve in your sushi and sashimi is steak type, it is not used for sushi in good restaurants. Wasabi quality has also suffered, the texture is off, the taste is diluted and the color is of fake cheap grass. Your salmon is nowhere fresh, it tastes and looks exactly as de-thawed salmon that you can buy from Foodhaus for 18 euro per kg. Pieces were seethrough, poorly and unevenly sliced. Charging 6 euros for 4 pieces of this misunderstanding is below rational. You can get better quality pre-packed salmon sashimi for less at Lidl, which is an inexpensive supermarket, not a restaurant like you position yourself. If we are talking about great local sushi restaurants - I would recommend going to Sushi Star (you probably already know well about your rivals around the corner) for an expedition. Those sushi are worth each cent and that quality is the one you should strive for.
Your vegan and vegetarian menu has suffered as well. You used to have some interesting options that made bringing different people together easier and exciting. I can’t really see me bringing plant based people along to the restaurant anymore.
Where did the condiments that used to be present at each table go? Why removing them? Have never seen people stealing them.
As for the drink menu - alcoholic menu simply lacks variety, just like the food menu. There is no connection or play between drinks and flavors that you cater.
I do understand that the world is going through crisis, but operating restaurant is a big responsibility. If your customer decides to support you through the crisis, you should do your best to prove your loyalty with quality and taste. Please, get yourself back on track. I used to visit and order from your restaurant on a weekly basis, but now all I can do is to scold you publicly, hoping that you will get the criticism and...
Read moreDisappointing Experience with Allergen Handling at Wagamama. I visited Wagamama recently and made the staff aware of a food allergy and some intolerances I have. To their credit, the waiter called the manager over to handle my order, which I appreciated as it suggested they take allergies seriously. I requested a Pad Thai with specific substitutions, and the manager agreed to replace the allergens with vegetables. However, after waiting for over an hour, the dish that finally arrived was simply noodles, tofu, and sauce—garnished with a few coriander leaves. I politely asked about the missing vegetables, only to be told they were left out "just in case" I might also be allergic to them. While I understand the need for caution, this approach felt dismissive and lacking in basic communication. If there was uncertainty, a simple conversation before serving the food would have resolved the issue and avoided the long wait for what turned out to be a very underwhelming meal. As someone with dietary restrictions, I expect clear dialogue and a willingness to accommodate within reason—not to be served a stripped-down dish without explanation. I hope Wagamama reviews its allergy protocols and prioritizes communication to ensure customers with allergies feel respected...
Read moreThe main problem of this place is the staff, they try to look friendly at the beginning while taking your order. First time I saw the staff writing the numbers of the dishes from the menu on the table paper cover!) And the staff was totally unprofessional indeed during all the evening. And this must be the result of unprofessional management. We came on Monday with half-empty restaurant expecting for at least good service, but the waitressess, 5 of 8 present at the moment, were standing aside and chatting in the corner, did not pay attention to the tables. Even when occasionally passing by you ask them politely to add some wine to empty glasses (girls only at the table), "This is not my job" - was the answer. As for the food... The worse was the Grilled Duck Doonburi, cooked with very old & smelly deep frozen meat. No spicy sauces could improve the taste. Really...
