I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gourmet Taverna, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles by the friendly staff, who showed us to our cozy table by the window. Our server, in particular, was exceptional - attentive, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the menu offerings. And then, the food... oh, the food! We started with the grilled octopus, which was tender, flavorful, and perfectly charred. The eggplant with mozzarella was a revelation - creamy, rich, and utterly delicious. But the real showstopper was the roasted pork - slow-cooked to perfection, it simply fell apart at the touch of our forks. And the risotto with seafood? A masterpiece! Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, with succulent shrimp, mussels, and scallops. But what really impressed me was the attention to detail in every dish. In short, Gourmet Taverna exceeded my expectations in every way. With its exceptional service, warm atmosphere, and truly outstanding cuisine, it's a must-visit destination for any food lover. I can't wait to come back and try more of their creations!

This small family-run restaurant was such a soulful experience! We ate here twice during our vacation in Paphos in the summer of 2025. The food is incredible and, unlike other places, it truly feels like a home-cooked meal. The house wine by the glass was excellent—especially the red. The first time, we had tyrokafteri dip as a starter (a feta cheese+chillies dip), served with homemade hot bread. For main course, we had the slow-cooked lamb chops served with mashed potatoes and vegetables, and the sea bass with spicy lentils, prepared in an Oriental-inspired style (! with coriander). The second time, we ordered the mydopilafos—a seafood risotto with spices reminiscent of curry—and the marsala chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables. For dessert, we tried Maria’s cake, a semolina and orange cake (my husband loved it, though I’m not a fan of citrus in desserts), and the lava cake, which was top notch—both served with vanilla ice cream. Every dish was absolutely exquisite, and we were very, very happy with our choice.

Literally the only Downside to this gorgeous family run Taverna is it's right on a busy street, just by the corner of the Harbour, however the food is to die for. We dined there 2 consecutive nights. 1st night between two of us we had, A bottle of water, carafe of wine, hallomi started with honey, caramelised onion and rocket, oven baked..GORGEOUS. I Had moussaka and my partner a rib eye steak. Then we shared a lava cake pudding. We were very pleased we stopped to eat there. The bill was 95€ with a tip. 2nd night, Bottle of water, carafe of wine, Goose and chicken liver pate, we shared the starter again. Good job as half was enough and it was 18€. I had stifado and my partner suckling pig.... crackling was out of this world. We shared Maria's special orange and semolina cake, also I had a coffee. The bill was 85€ with a tip but the lovely people gave us pudding for free as we had visited again so soon. Definitely worth the money.

Gourmet Taverna is a hidden Gem in Paphos – An Unforgettable Dining Experience

If you're visiting Paphos and looking for a truly special place to eat, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at this incredible restaurant. It’s not just a meal – it’s an experience you’ll remember long after your trip is over.

From the moment you arrive, you're welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home, and you can tell they take real pride in what they do. The service is impeccable – friendly, attentive, and full of local charm.

The atmosphere is equally impressive. The restaurant has a beautiful theme that reflects the heart and soul of Cyprus, blending tradition with elegance. Whether you're sitting outside under the stars or inside surrounded by tasteful decor, the ambiance is perfect for both romantic dinners and relaxed family meals.

And the food? Absolutely top-tier. Every dish is prepared with the freshest local ingredients, and the flavors are simply outstanding. Whether you’re trying authentic Cypriot specialties or more contemporary dishes, each bite is a delight. The presentation is gorgeous, and the quality rivals some of the best restaurants I’ve visited anywhere in Europe.

This place is a must-visit in Paphos. It captures everything that makes this town so magical – the warmth of its people, the richness of its culture, and the joy of sharing a great meal....
