Would love to give more than 1 star but after today’s experience I simply can’t. Myself and my partner had breakfast here yesterday and we said how amazing the food was - I had the Cyprus breakfast and my partner had the pancakes which were so big and fluffy that we wanted to come back today to have them again! Much to our dismay, our experience today was not at all the same as yesterdays. We were seated and had our order take (both ordering pancakes this time), as well as a few drinks. We waited about 15 minutes for our pre made lemonades to arrive along with an iced coffee, then waited a further 15 minutes for our pancakes. The pancakes they put in front of us looked like the insert to a bikini top- super thin and very very cold. We were extremely disappointed especially after the delicious, thick and fluffy pancakes he received 24 hours prior! My partners banana seemed to have been in a fist fight before being put on top of the pancakes as they were extremely bruised. We spoke to one of the waitresses who seemed shocked and asked if it was to do with the taste to which we were equally as shocked to have to inform her of the flatness and chill of the discs we received. Not to mention that today’s staff seemed to lack in the enthusiasm side of things and were borderline rude to us with a bit of an attitude. Overall- really disappointed as this restaurant has a beautiful view and the overall atmosphere is very pleasant, wouldn’t...
Read moreMy wife and I saved our trip to Pinguino for our final morning in Paphos. Based on the other reviews we read, we were very much looking forward to a delightful culinary experience, with the added incentive of being able to cater for GF palates. This did not live up to the hype. Not by a long shot. The last review from 1 week ago paints a picture that this place has beautiful uninterrupted views of the harbour... however, the reality is that Pinguino is almost surrounded by ongoing road works, with restricted access, requiring one to walk across planks to reach the door. The only views are of the road works and hoarding.
When we arrived, the place was quiet, and service was brisk - though not in any way welcoming. I ordered poached eggs with smoked salmon, while my wife got the famous greek omelette. Both arrived relatively quickly - though they did not live up to expectations. My poached eggs and salmon were overpowered by black pepper, and devoid of any bearnaise or hollandaise sauce. The greek omelette was shockingly poor - consisting of little more than eggs and a sprinkle of dried oregano. We were desperately disappointed by our experience, and would advise anyone who wants decent food to...
Read moreVery disappointing service and rude staff. We went for lunch with my friends and the place was very busy which is absolutely fine. We were seated at the table, 4 people but there was no space for the 4 of us because of where the table was and the position of the chairs. We ordered food and drinks. Before the drinks even arrived, a table was emptied, so we asked if we could move there because we could sit better. Same size of table and everything, we just had more space for the chairs. The woman looked at us angry and said that this table is for 4 people and they never had any issues before. We just asked to change tables when we didn't even have plates on our tables to cause any inconvenience. Needless to say that after we moved to the table ( that she had to clean first, which was why she was annoyed with us) she was barely acknowledging us. In general the staff seemed miserable and the food was very average so nothing special for me which is...
