La Place Royale — Restaurant in Paphos Municipality

WORST meal and WORST service I experienced in Cyprus, I would NOT recommend this place at all. AVOID. The menu looked nice and so did the terrace/ ambience so we thought we’d give the place a try. That was a big mistake. We were seated and given menus but then things went a bit weird. We were waiting and waiting, nobody came to our table. We were in a very prominent place and no chance they could miss us. Eventually I had to ask for someone to come. Then I learnt that they would only take the drinks order, I said but we’ve chosen our drinks and food, I’d like to order everything….no need to wait longer. The waiter advised that this was not possible, drinks first and then later he will take food order!!! What???? He tried to explain why, but it was simply a stupid approach. In hindsight we should have left the restaurant at this moment. So then we waited for the drinks to arrive. When the drinks came I was expecting the fresh orange juice to be freshly squeezed, it wasn’t, maybe I should have checked when ordering. Then there was a wait for food order to be taken. Then we had to wait for the food (I don’t mind if it’s homemade and cooked to order). When the food did come it was a big disappointment - if you do it eat here then don’t go for the ravioli (bland and with excessive sauce), spaghetti carbonara (beige mush), pork chop (more fat than meat) or the tandoori chicken (it’s not a tandoori recipe, but to be fair to the waiter he said it wasn’t authentic tandoori when I placed the order). The only two good things were the fries, they were exceptional, and the grilled salmon. Than the big scandal. We decided to order 3x crepes which should have taken few minutes to serve. No, we waited 15 mins only to be offered the wrong dessert. I protested, I didn’t want what they brought me. Then the waiter came over (maybe he’s the owner or manager of this terrible restaurant) and defended the restaurant and started to make the situation worse - the girl was dealing with it very well until he showed up. He did acknowledge that they made a mess of a simple order. A heated discussion took place and it was no way for a customer to be treated. After the message was clear about what desserts we wanted he walked off, only to rapidly return and say no, go, pay the bill and go. He cancelled the desserts. All the time he was stomping around shouting about me and the situation, then explaining his side of the story to staff and other diners. What an awful man and what an awful restaurant. You’ve been warned. The most horrendous restaurant...

Just ate here. Ordered tandoori chicken Fillet. The waiter asked how would I like it cooked medium or well done....i asked if he meant spice wise. He said no the chicken.. What is that all about. Then the chicken came out with an unnecessary amount of feta on which looked like the tandoori spice was on top. As an Asian myself.. I know what tandoori chicken is and that was not it. Now for the real bad part. The chicken was raw and still pink flesh inside. Sent it back.. No apology. 15 mins later it came back on the same plate with the same shameful looking excuse for a jacket Potato and a helpless side salad. Sorry but I'm not eating a samanella induced side dish with a now overcooked chicken although it still looked pink when it came back....

Terrible service and food. Sat us down at a dirty table. When the waiter took our order he noticed the table was dirty and tried to wipe it clean with his bear hand instead of a cloth that's when we should off left. The starters came and halfway through the mains came and they put it on the side of the table saying... we will put it there while you finish your starter. I had spaghetti carbonara, which looked like a thick runny milk source and tasted bland. My wife had salmon with jacket potato, the salmon was over cooked and the Jacket potato look and tasted like it was done in a microwave. Took around 30 mins to pay the bill ( getting someone to give us the bill then getting someone's attention to...
