This restaurant will try to cheat you out of your money.
Me and my friends visited this restaurant yesterday. We waited quite a long time for the waitress to take our order and even bring the drinks. We were there for an hour before we got any food. When the food came it was stone cold but we were starving so we were just glad to eat.
Some weeks ago I visited U Dřevěného Vlka and we were severely overcharged for our drinks. The waiter added extra lines to our ticket, and because there was four of us nobody noticed until the end when me and my wife had to pay 700 for eight beers. I don’t know if management tells its staff to do this or if the staff conspire amongst themselves.
I typically trust people so I thought, “Why not just try Orel? My friend says the food is great!”
Anyway, the same thing happened at Orel. Most drinks, and side orders cost 45 crowns. So on our ticket there was 45 with lines beside it for each drink and side order. I was half attentive to what the waitress was doing, but not enough. At one point I saw her hesitate for a second, and then scribble three lines to the row. Later this made sense because after we had all paid there was three remaining 45 crown items. Unfortunately, at that stage there’s nothing you can do, so we paid the extra 135 crowns. I hope it was worth it for the restaurant because we won’t be back.
Overall a relatively pleasant visit because I expected them to try to cheat us out...
Read moreSometimes, the waiting time is longer than it is supposed to be. However, that is because of inexperienced staff, which - if explained - is understandable.
The food here is often very good, however, I had also a negative experience. Cheese balls with vegetables - food that is supposed to be deeply fried got me served while still frozen inside. After I asked for the cooking to be finished, it was delivered to us without problems.
The environment is quite noisy as the acoustics is bad and you have to often shout at the table to hear the person on the other side. But there are also tables in rooms where the noise is not as aggressive, but I never managed to get a free table there.
A very negative experience is during the payment. With larger groups of people, there are often discrepancies in what we are supposed to pay and what we actually ordered. It is often caused by the messy style of writing the orders which then results in quite unhappy customers.
The staff can be sometimes arrogant, but the chief of staff is a guy who knows his value as a worker and who approached me trying to solve all the problems we had during our last visit to the best of his abilities.
I hope that they do better next time I am here, but that will be a while before I will consider it, so there is plenty of time for...

We were craving a good steak in Brno after camping in the wilderness for a week. What first attracted me was the fact the restaurant is in a 13th century crypt!
The gothic essence in CZ is really something to behold! A lot of the rooms are painted but we opted to sit in the authetic room with the stairs that lead down to the crypt itself! Such a cool atmosphere!!!
The staff were amazing, very cool local guys who know there beer and very happy to welcome us tourists.
On the menu there is a lot of choice, lots of traditional dishes along side a very good selection of meats.
We all got steaks, some rump, some sirloin - with sides of buttered boiled potatos and mixed salad.
The steak was TO DIE FOR - melt in the mouth topshelf material!! We all opted for 200g instead of 400g and this was the perfect serve! You can tell the meat is quality and comes from a well-looked after source. Cooked as it should be, based on your preference- had I a perfect medium-rare. The flavour was incredible and especially teamed with the buttered potatos!! Ive been dreaming about this meal since!
Also the prices were fantastic. Incredible value!
10000% next time Im in Brno I will be...
