We were staying in the Ambassador hotel. This restaurant is on the ground floor of the hotel. Dined there on 18th June 2018: were served by friendly waiters; there were no places, but they found a way out to help us - two tables were occupied by 1 guest, the waitresses asked him whether it was possible to divide the tables - he gladly agreed. The food was delicious, large portions and excellent draft beer! I liked everything very much, left a tip of 15% and decided to come again for dinner. June 20th we returned to this restaurant for dinner at 20:00, all tables were occupied. Again two tables were joined together and were occupied by 2 guests, a couple. That evening there was another team of waiters: at first they pretended that they did not see us; had to go up to them and ask to find a table for us and whether they can move the tables apart. In response, there were crooked faces of the waitresses, and one of them - a blonde with a short haircut in a rude tone suggested to us "ask yourself other guests if you can move tables or not" ..... These guests, a couple from the Czech Republic, were very friendly and benevolently agreed to push the tables apart, and did not see a problem in it. We came for dinner, but the waitress, having accepted the order for beer, hastened to leave without even asking what we would eat ... We had to stop her and make a full order, which in the total amount was 700 krons. Rebuke to the manager of the restaurant - the price of of our dinner was similar to 10 customers with two mugs of beer, who occupied at the same time 5-6 tables for 1-2 hours that evening. We only occupied the table for 45 minutes, took 1 small table, and the restaurant earned 30 Euro. Seemed that waitresses didn’t want their customers to make an order and to return again the next day. The impression of such "hospitality" was...
Read moreDragged myself into Pilsner Urquell Original Restaurant - Nároďák in Karlovy Vary, and man, what a mixed bag! First day, I grabbed a Prazdroj schnit for 65 Kč around 18:30. Dude, 65 Kč for a schnit, a glorified half pour?! That’s wild overpriced, and hold up, it tasted like someone forgot to clean the tap lines. Straight-up bitter-rusty hose-line aftertaste. Like, c’mon, it’s evening, y’all should’ve poured enough beer by now to not serve rested, funky brew. Next day, I gave it another shot with a Prazdroj hladinka for 79 Kč. Better than the schnit, for sure, but still nothing to write home about. Just standard tank beer, zero wow-factor, no “yippee skippy yay” moment. But 79 Kč for a pint? Absolute rip-off for something so basic. Vibe’s cool, classic Pilsner spot, but those prices and that first-day beer? Nah, fam. Maybe worth a stop if you’re desperate for a Pilsner fix, but don’t expect to...
Read moreOne of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. We were referred here by a parking garage attendant for tank beer and traditional Czech food and are so glad we took him up on the recommendation. Both the beer and comforting food were exactly what I needed after a long travel day and my first time in the country. The seating outside is in a great spot to take in the atmosphere and I can’t speak highly enough of our waiter Wednesday night. He showed genuine interest where we were traveling from and gave us a full itinerary, from entertainment that evening to where to find an oplatky and the best view in town the next day. He really made our whole trip to Karlovy Vary! We would have sat here for hours having drinks if we didn’t have limited time. Definitely go if you...
