Dining at Radniční sklípek in Liberec was a truly authentic experience that beautifully combined Czech tradition with a cozy, historical setting. Tucked beneath the grand town hall, this cellar-style restaurant offers the perfect atmosphere—warm lighting, brick walls, and the feeling that you’ve stepped into a piece of the city’s past.
I ordered my very first traditional Czech dish, and it did not disappoint. I chose Svíčková na smetaně, a marinated beef sirloin served in a creamy vegetable sauce, accompanied by soft bread dumplings, cranberries, and a touch of whipped cream. The flavors were rich and comforting, with the sauce striking the perfect balance between sweetness and savory depth. It felt like a dish crafted with history and heart.
The staff was welcoming and attentive, offering helpful recommendations and making me feel at ease even though I was unfamiliar with the cuisine. The beer menu is also worth mentioning—local varieties like Svijany added a perfect traditional touch to the meal.
If you’re visiting Liberec and want a taste of real Czech cooking in a unique and atmospheric setting, Radniční sklípek is a must. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more...
Read moreIf the place is more maintained, it can be a really nice place to dine. First of, the lights… some bulbs are cold and some warm.
Better furnishing on the lights, tables seating arrangement should be improved in order to continue the nice CZ culture.
Service from staff was ok. Straight forward and fast service but maybe a bit of smile from each will be nice.
Ceilings is high but might want to improve on the sound proofing.
Lastly…. I would like to request the kitchen to relook at their fried pork liver menu.
The dish that I received…, the pork liver was extremely overcooked and it turned out really dry and hard which makes one difficult to even bite it off.
Display of food… i wasn’t expecting a 5 star display, but will be absolutely standard if the pork liver and fries are properly placed on the plate instead of mixing up messily when delivered to...
Read moreGreat food and service! We arrived at this restaurant beneath city hall just before closing and were happily welcomed and offered the full menu selection (at 10: 30 in Czech Republic this is rare) We opted for the appetiser menu with cold dishes. We got Tlacenka, beef tartare and smoked tongue. All were lovely and we'll prepared, the tongue was amazing! The cellar is a wonderful old style pub with stained glassed windows that feature depictions of stories. The beer menu was varied and featured Unfiltered Svijany both 11 and 13 degree... delicious. The only thing that isn't perfect is the weird strange contemporary lights hanging over the table with web of wires. It diminishes the old ornate ceilings and feel of the place. This isn't so important. Great prices, wonderful food, superservice, nice place. I would definitely recommend for an...
