Šalanda U Čejpů — Restaurant in Prague

To be honest I would have given an additional star but some things were not quite there. Definitely this is a typical Czech restaurant, with lots of beer, they brew their own beer which is pretty cool, and Czech dishes, which I really like when a place is authentic. The staff is really nice, they speak English, seem to be in a good mood, they are smiling whenever they interact with customers, really appreciate that. Food wise, also I only have good words. This time i ordered the selection of cheeses in onion and spicy pepper, really good and also the Caesar salad. But the real reason why I went there are the pancakes (they did not make it into a photo because I could not wait to eat them). I highly recommend them, on their own they are not at all sweet, the jam the give you gives this dish a really nice flavor. Beer was good, but the only thing that I did not like, with the starter I asked for a glass of wine. I was unpleasantly surprised to see that the wine was from a carton box, not from a bottle. It was not good at all, and it seemed as if it was open for quite some time. At first, I thought that it's 0.4l beer but the table listed 0.5l and I was disappointed. Even after ordering without the foam, it was a centimeter bellow the .5 mark. At this point, one should get one free after 5 beers. The food... it's tricky, sometimes it hits, sometimes it doesn't. The chicken wings are not that well roasted and bbq sauce is mid. The ribs were decent but on the menu it said spicy, but it was like bbq. Less sweet but no spice. They were cooked just fine though. this has been one of my 'locals' for the last 2 years. Very good beer and food and some nice wines. Traditional Czech food with some pasta dishes and risotto and salads and great local brewery. Friendly efficient courteous staff and very reasonable prices. Newly renovated a few years ago in 'modern' pub/brewery style.
