Black Dog — Restaurant in Prague

My wife and I recently had a delightful dining experience at Black Dog restaurant. We indulged in two mouthwatering burgers served with crispy fries, and for dessert, we savored an exquisite caramel and chocolate cake. To complement our meal, we enjoyed four excellent Czech beers.

The burgers were absolutely divine, earning a perfect score of 10/10. They were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavors, and accompanied by perfectly crispy and flavorful fries. The dessert, a caramel and chocolate cake, was a heavenly delight, receiving another well-deserved 10/10 rating. Each bite was a symphony of flavors and textures.

Additionally, the selection of Czech beers was outstanding, enhancing our meal and earning a solid 10/10. The service provided by the staff was impeccable – friendly, attentive, and efficient, deserving yet another 10/10. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance that added to our dining pleasure. For this, I gladly rate the atmosphere 10/10 as well.

I visited Black dog late afternoon on 12 February. It was hard to get a table as they were all booked but empty. With booking times some hours away but even so the staff struggled to find a tabe in a cantina with more staff than guests. So we were placed in a side room out of sight of the staff so being able to attract their attention ment leaving the table. As they did not check often this did become an issue later when my partners drink order took a very long time to arrive. The did give a free coke while we waited even longer for the drink. So to the food. I had the bbq ribs and they were Smokey meaty and nicely presented. My partner had the cheese burger it was served well done as requested and was also well presented. We also shared the deep fried mac n cheese and have no complaints. I had had high hopes for the food and had seen that service wobbles in other reviews. So my conclusion it was good but disappointing as I had expected something amazing like my first visit to beast burger kitchen in Brno a couple of years ago where service beer burger and taste blew me away. However here the food is good its just not great and the service still needs some work. Pretty good food. Indeed the veggie burger is really good, you definitely feel that it’s not meat but to be honest it was really delicious and fulfilling, I highly recommend it. The French fries are crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. We also tried the smoked turkey breast and you definitely feel the smokiness, overall is okay, a bit dry but it comes with beans, coleslaw and pickles, I guess to compensate it being a bit dry. All in all, the food was delicious, really well prepared. What would need improvement is maybe the service, the staff was not so engaging and not always clear on what we want, it felt at times that they had more important things to do somewhere else and the place was not full when we ordered, maybe 2 tables taken. The food took an hour to be brought. The prices are a bit high and it does not quite match with what they overall offer.
