PAPRIKA — Restaurant in Prague

I used to LOVE this place. Until last week, when I decided to show this place to my boyfriend that has never visited it before, and my explanation to him was that the taste and portion are amazing and one of my favorite.

Few minutes went, we were happy and all and we ordered Vegan meal for two. We excused ONE STAFF on friday evening working alone with full restaurant of people, which I dont understand the reason of this. I was happily eating my food and then I found MEAT in the VEGAN meal. Me as whole life vegetarian had huge shock, how this can happen? I tried to solve with the staff, she apologised and said, we have the food on house. Before apologising, they tried to tell me it is not meat, but this is meat in 1000%, after I told them it is, then suddenly thry didnt say it. This was also embarassing from good rated restaurant. I was honestly disgusted and it ruined my evening. As compensation, they said the owner will contact me and they offer me vouchers and explain what happened. Vouchers never came, nobody cares and nobody called me.

Unfortunatelly, this was my last visit in this place, even tho I loved it.

All vegans and vegetarians be careful when ordering fries/ vegan option, the meat was mixed in the fries! So probably made in the same machine or place as meat, I cant tell. For me not safe and I saw also another review claiming it happened to a lady 3x.

I asked the staff, why did they apologised and not the chef, as probably he was serving it, she said they are team and said, the food is made in thr morning or something like that, so I am little confused with the freshness of the meals, because it sounded like they dont have cook there and they are preparing the meals by themselves, which is shocking if it is like that. From czech food policy, food has to be fresh and cant wait the whole day till 20:00, when we came.

A few days ago, we visited here and here's my impressions:

We ordered Babaganush as a starter, but it wasn't what we're used to. It had a very strong tahini flavor, which didn't suit our taste. I would prefer Babaganush without tahini.

Initially, I wanted to order Shakshuka Lamb Merguez, but the server informed me they were out of lamb and couldn't serve any lamb dishes at the moment. I opted for Shakshuka Balkani instead. It was overall average; the tomato sauce was flavorful, but nothing else stood out. We also tried the Hummus Falafel. The falafel was tasty, but the hummus again had an overwhelming tahini taste. It was quite standard for us.

The service was excellent; the staff were friendly and attentive. The interior design and ambiance of the place are quite standard. We had heard many positive reviews about this place, so we expected a more chic Mediterranean restaurant setting.

In general, it's tough to find good Mediterranean cuisine in Prague, but I don’t think this place is a good representation of Mediterranean food. The variety is limited, and the focus is heavily on hummus and falafel. I didn’t find much creativity in the menu or the dishes.

A different experience, but would I go back?...

Good food. I cannot deny that. However the service is terrible. The girls are confused forgot to bring one out of 3 cocktails and brought us glass with ice for coke but the ice was melted. We ordered one of the main menus they asked what side do we want and side drink… we asked if that was included in the prices they said yes. Turned out it cost another 70czk for something we didn’t need or want. The menu is confusing need of improvement for sure. List of cocktails are also weird combination.

Reply: I did not choose any extra menu I just asked for the shakshuka plate from main menu we did not ask for extra menu, that is why we asked if its price included cuz it was not my first time there and I never got extra menu. I also dont see the point of why would I order extra menu if I already have salad withing the plate and ordered cocktail as well. It happened to two of us and both of us only ordered the plate from main menu thats why we did nit understant why is she asking us for side and drink Also, replying to negative review in a way saying that it is the customers fault says a lot as well.
