Unfortunately, this restaurant didn't work for me. While I appreciate the effort that likely went into the dishes, the combination of flavours and the overall quality, including the presentation, fell short and wasn't justified by the price. For an appetiser, we ordered the duck dumplings with hoisin sauce. The dumplings themselves were almost tasteless. While some might excuse this as an attempt to replicate Peking duck, they were served with a store-bought version of hoisin sauce. The sauce had an unappealing flavour, and no matter how little we used, it was the only thing you could taste. The dumplings were also quite greasy. Next, we tried the wonton in Szechuan style. The wonton wrappers had a nice texture, but the filling had an overwhelming amount of cilantro that clashed with the "Szechuan" sauce. The sauce itself was essentially just chili oil with chili flakes, lacking the complex flavours expected from Szechuan cuisine, hence not sure what was to like about it. I tried eating the wontons separately, but the strong cilantro taste wasn't pleasant. When mixed with the sauce, it was even less palatable. While I understand that restaurants often adapt traditional Chinese dishes, I personally didn't find the food good at all. The quality simply wasn't there, especially considering the cost. But maybe I should have tried the duck. On the other hand, I have to say that the service in this place was very good and people were...
Read moreI want leave a very honest feedback. I saw this place was recommended in a few articles and we decided to give it a try. It was Friday evening, we didn’t have reservation, but we still got a table, at the bar, right next to the place where everything was cooked. (I tried not to look there since it can ruin my appetite) I’m 9 months pregnant and I don’t like to sit at the bar, but this time it was really comfy. We ordered drinks and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and music! Staff was nice too. We ordered dim sums with shrimps and this was the first disappointment 😔 it was not tasty at all. I was not upset as I was waiting for my main dish….but it was a disappointment too! It was wrap with the duck. It was cold, probably it is better to write it in the menu, duck was just horrible, you could not chew it and it was not tasty at all. My partner had kimchi ramen and he can rate it as 3.8 out of 5. At the end, when we left I was hungry and we smell like kitchen of this restaurant. Our jackets, shirt and even jeans had a very strong smell of Asian cuisine which was not nice too. In my opinion it would be great if they serve food with...
Read moreMy husband and I went to have lunch with their restaurant week menu. We decided to get the vegetarian and meat menus to have more of a variety. The vegetarian meal came with rice and I noticed that the rice was hard and it wasn't cooked with enough water. I told this to the waiter and he was able to get me a new bowl of rice that was much much better, so that was appreciated. Unfortunately the inari sushi (the tofu skin sushi) was made with the hard rice, so it wasn't that great. The kim mari was really good and so was the age tofu (fried tofu). But another downfall were the noodles. I felt that the noodles were a bit over cooked and mushy, but I didn't feel like I could tell them this problem. The desserts were interesting and I've never had those flavors before so it was nice to try, but I don't know if I would get them again. It was great to see the open kitchen concept and I was very impressed with how calm the cooks were with the busyness of the restaurant. I would come again to try the duck, but I don't think I could bring my Japanese mother to...
