Restaurace U Labutí — Restaurant in Prague

This restaurant was an excellent choice. They serve traditional Czech food. Surprisingly, the restaurant, located close to the castle, was almost empty in the evening and we had a very nice atmosphere and quiet place in the inner outside area. The food was delicious. The Gulasch and the chicken steak, as well as the duck were made nicely, good portion size and good value. The drinks were great too, especially the homemade lemonades, which were served with fruit and a spoon in a big glass. The dessert was fabulous. We had chocolate mousse with cherries, lemonsorbet in a lemon and icecream with whipped cream and berry sauce. Very tasteful and nicely served.

The service was excellent as well, you were not constantly disturbed, but any questions and wishes were taken care of immediately. Also the menu was available in several languages and the server spoke great English and some German even.

The food was great and the place was pretty but the service was terrible. I rarely review service so bad but the man had an attitude the whole time. He treated us like we were in the way of his phone time. Both of the men were on their phones the whole time and ignored us. They were also cussing about the customers in Czech thinking we couldn't understand them. They were constantly slamming things down and huffing and puffing having to do a job they were barely attempting to do. And as I went outside to stand the older man came outside and stared at us for a good 3 minutes before going back inside. As if we ruined his night of being on the phone. I know this establishment has good history and it was just who was working tonight, but, the company should think about its image constantly and not allow someone to treat guests to your country like they're an invaders with constant slamming of plates and throwing the card...

The waiter suggested local red wine, but they tasted awful. He wasn't happy that we complaint and his demeanour changed completely after trying to be funny with some sarcastic jokes. They didn't offer to replace them or refund. So totally ruined the atmosphere as we felt unwelcome. Another servant came along as clearly the first one didn't want to have anything to do with us. The food was average and very big portions. We were too full to order desert. I don't recommend this place as the service and wine...
