Read moreKuchyň, perched just outside Prague Castle, was a revelation. My first visit, and it felt like stumbling upon a hidden gem, a world away from the tourist traps. The view alone is worth the trip, but the food? That’s what truly impressed. It's a bit hidden from view so most people wouldn't have found it if they were just outside the castle. The deer tartare was good, no doubt. But, being a tartare aficionado, I’ve had better. Still, the quality was evident. However, the chicken liver pâté? That’s a different story. It's easily one of the best pâtés I’ve ever tasted. Rich, smooth, and utterly decadent – a must-try. The combination and the final product is so good. Their dill soup, a local specialty, was a delightful surprise. They’ve managed to elevate a traditional dish while still preserving its essence. It was fresh, vibrant, and comforting all at once. A real testament to their culinary skill. I've tried at least 5 dill soup on my weekend trip. The roast duck, though, was a bit of a letdown. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t quite live up to the high standards set by the other dishes. It lacked that depth of flavour I was hoping for. Despite the minor duck disappointment, Kuchyň offers a truly authentic and memorable dining experience. The atmosphere is charming, the service is impeccable, and the food, for the most part, is exceptional. It’s a place I’d happily return to, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a genuine taste of Czech cuisine. Just make sure you book and you will not be...
Read moreI ordered chicken liver pâté as a starter. On the one hand, it wasn’t bad, but on the other hand, it came with plain cheap white bread, which felt disappointing.
The main dish was supposed to be chicken with gratinated potatoes. However, instead of gratinated, I received boiled potatoes. Another unpleasant surprise was the sauce: it wasn’t even mentioned on the menu, and it turned out to be teriyaki. I honestly have no idea what teriyaki is doing in Czech cuisine.
The whole dish tasted like something from a canteen, yet it cost 500 CZK. Sitting next to me was a couple with a large dog, and in the end, I fed half of my portion to the dog and couldn’t eat the rest. It simply wasn’t tasty.
Later, when the waiter came to collect the plates and asked if everything was delicious, I sarcastically replied that it wasn’t, though the dog seemed to enjoy it. To my shock, instead of apologizing, offering an alternative, or even showing a bit of concern, he picked some meat from my plate and said, “Well, since dog likes it, let’s give her some more.” I was stunned by such tactless and unprofessional service.
No apology, no discount, no interest in what went wrong — just reinforcement of the idea that their food was better suited for a dog.
I will never come back and cannot recommend this...
