I’ll start by saying that our visit wasn’t this year—it was before I began actively posting reviews on Google Maps. Still, considering this was our most negative experience in the Czech Republic, I decided to revisit the matter.
The location is the only unquestionable advantage of this restaurant. Tourists will always be there, apparently, which may be why the owners don't feel the need to maintain quality.
Things started badly when the waiter spilled dark beer on us. Then they brought my wife an Aperol that was completely undrinkable. When we refused it, they brought out a bottle and insisted everything was fine, refusing to remove it from the bill.
I noticed that at nearby tables, many others also left their Aperol unfinished—so it clearly wasn’t just our subjective opinion.
The table was uneven and wobbly, and the food was mediocre at best.
But the worst part happened at the end: the waiter disappeared, so I went inside to ask for the bill. That’s when they told me they didn’t accept card payments—without any prior warning. I didn’t have enough Czech crowns in cash. They offered to accept Euros, but then calculated the exchange at such a rate that our total jumped by 9 Euros.
I consider that not just poor service, but outright fraud. So if you still decide to go there, at least make sure to ask whether they...
Read moreThey wont take accountability for a single thing. How hard is it to accept you messed up by getting greedy? You have a great location but are ruining the chance of making 10x what this childish operation is making there. Instead of replying with "fake review yada yada" every single time, why not try to actually grow? Not only as people, but also as a business? Like still operating in the same way you were during the investigations is so ridiculously thoughtless and greed fueled. Do better, I'm sure you're capable of it. 2014 Czech Trade Inspection Authority report "...Second in the list came Mystic Café, a venue located just outside Prague Castle. Its proprietors were fined 100,000 crowns for overcharging; the guests were automatically charged a 10-percent tip without having been informed. English-speaking inspectors were also only given picture menus which did not list the prices, and were told that the drinks menu was not available at all. Mystic Café was a repeat offender as in 2012 it also landed a...
Read moreI went there in May 2024. The quality of food was mediocre and expensive, too. Menus had no prices which was very suspicious. Small beer was the size of XL beer and tasted low quality. I felt like I was scammed, so I went to check the reviews and noticed a lot of suspicious positive reviews that seemed fake. I went to google up the restaurant, and apparently, the whole business is a tourist scam trap that has been exposed many times by various local YouTubers. It was exposed that they reward tourists with food or drinks in exchange for 5 star reviews on Google. Apparently, it was proven that they also buy fake reviews. You will notice many accounts which never published more than 1-2 reviews ever in Google maps. Suddenly, out of nowhere they gave 5 stars just for that restaurant. Apparently they also scammed customers by secretly pouring the cheapest beer from out of plastic bottles,...
