Shahi Indian — Restaurant in Prague

Friendly, warm service from the moment we walked in, the kind of hospitality that makes you relax straight away. The curries are truly excellent, speaking as a Brit who has been spoiled by good curry my whole life, this was some of the best I have had outside the UK. The restaurant is simple and unpretentious from the street, inside it is cosy and clean with a calm, welcoming vibe. Prices are fair, portions are generous.

We had a tikka masala, a butter chicken, a garlic naan and poppadoms, everything was spot on, rich sauces, tender meat, naan fresh and fragrant. They happily packed up our leftovers, tomorrow’s lunch sorted. They do delivery, but I strongly suggest eating in so you can enjoy the lovely staff and the fresh bread straight from the tandoor. Wi-Fi is available, handy if you are roaming.

Tips, ask for your spice level, the kitchen hits mild to hot nicely. Curries are truly cooked to order, so you can customise as needed.

Weekends can get busy, consider booking or arriving a little early. Garlic naan is a must, and save room for leftovers.

Oh my God...I found a cheat code to Nirvana! I love good food and when I find it I want to share it as best as I can. I ordered the vegetable samosas, the mango lassi, garlic naan, and the lamb Tikka Masala (medium spicy) and everything was outstanding....but when I tasted the Tikka Masala I felt like Anton Ego after tasting the ratatouille. It damn near brought a tear to my eye!

If you enjoy Indian cuisine, then you have to try this place. It's the "hole in the wall" you always hear about that always has the best food.

Edit: So I came back, because how could I not... Not once, but two more times and you know what I found? It got even better. If I could give Shahi 11 stars I would. The staff were so incredibly friendly and accommodating and, of course, recognized me when I came back again. But the food...absolute taste bud pleasure from start to finish.
