Came here Oct 2025. Very very positive experience.

I was in Prague with my two children: son 16, daughter 12. The bar was happy I could bring children in to eat there. We arrived quite late - around 9pm - the kitchen closes at 9.30pm.

*The bar does not accept card payment (be aware) *

Within minutes of being at the table, my daughter spilt her drink. Absolute classic, total loss. Passing bar staff saved us with cloths. These things happen. I wasn't made to feel stupid. New pepsi delivered, all good.

Then the best bit... The food! Very very keenly priced compared to other places in the area. Exceptional taste. I had beef goulash - I'm not gourmet, but I am an honest chap who likes decent food, and this was truly exceptional. A very rich beef sauce, lovely fries and beef that fell apart. Genuinely very good.

My son had the house beef burger. "Very meaty" he said. Moist meat and salad, but a crisp bun.

My daughter has a chicken steak salad. Her words "the chicken was soft and lovely like it was cooked in butter, and the salad was salty but in a really nice way".

We spent considerably less money here than at did at a bar round the corner the previous night. Different ambiance: previous bar was more copper, more bravarian? This bar is lovely, straight forward, less branded and more honestly welcoming.

The one downside is that you need cash. As a tourist, you might be watching how much koruna you are pulling out of the wall for fear of having significant Czech currency left at the end of your stay. That's a minor point. The major point is that the many local ATM machines have a heavy mark up - that's not the fault of this bar, but it's something to watch.

Overall, very recommended. Both kids have...

Surprised to see so many great reviews for this place, my experience was quite different. We wanted to enjoy a drink on our first night in Prague and we found this bar / restaurant near our hotel, plus seeing the reviews, we felt comfortable to give it a try. First of all, they mixed up the drinks, and instead of a Long Island, we’ve got a Cuba libre (which was cheaper, but got charged for the Long Island). Not much of a huge deal, we kept drinking and carried on with our night, although it was basically a glass of coke with just a hint of alcohol. The payment process was the highlight of the evening. First of all, our bad, we didn’t ask if they accepted cards, although such a busy restaurant definitely should. One of us went to get some cash (whilst the other one was requested to stay inside). The bill was around CZK 343 and we handled 1000. The waiter then annoyed asked how much we wanted back. Weird question.. hence we asked to repeat, which she did. We were confused of why she asked that and simply asked to have the normal change back? She then got annoyed and started laughing at us with some clients nearby, saying something in their language all together whilst clearly making jokes. At the end she didn’t gave us all the change back, stating she didn’t had all of it. RUDE. Now.. she could tell we are tourists.. if is the tip you’re looking for, then mention that it is not included in the bill instead of give us such an attitude and make a joke of us with customers, and, refusing to give all change back. Awful, never again, and definitely not recommended...

Absolutely ridiculous. They sat us down and gave us menus - around 6pm. When we finally ordered, they told us they only had 2 plates left of a popular dish we ordered 3 of (goulash) and no tomato soup. We then ordered other meals and they were also out of the drinks we wanted. They didn’t seem to tell us these popular items were NOT available before sitting us down - the goulash was the main reason we went there and we would have left had we known. Not to mention, the service is so appalling. Everytime we tried to get a waitress’s attention we saw her chatting away with her colleagues, not even looking around to see if anyone needed anything. It took us around 5 minutes to get her attention for the bill and then guess what… after leaving she went right back to chatting. Once ordering the bill, it takes a customer maximum 1 minute to complete it (this is a cash only restaurant so we needed to wait for change). She was then gone for another 5 minutes, where at that point we were fed up and had to go to the bar and stand right in front of her to pay.

The food is alright but I would NOT recommend this...

Interior was nice. Staff was barely ok but slightly confused. Unfortunately the pickled hermelín cheese was tiny, came with no oil or sauce, no chillies, no onions. Fortunately after asking the staff for chillies at least they brought me some jalapeños. The salad with grilled goat cheese was tasty nevertheless the goat cheese itself was pretty dry. Also I believe it was not worth 200 Kč. The Kácov beer tasted as it should but both of the beers came quite undersized. The funny thing after arrival was that the waitress announced us that we can order anything from the menu but svíčková sauce only comes with french fries 🍟. I think if I was working in a restaurant I would rather go to the Tesco next door and buy two pieces of knedlík than offering such a nonsense like svíčková with fries to the clients. For eating we would welcome slightly more light, so maybe a candle could solve the issue.
