We used to visit this restaurant either on regular occasions or to celebrate special events with close family. It is not a classic restaurant, it is a place where you feel as at home, you will spend long time there but you feel that it was just a while. The interior is cozy and homely. Due to the fact that the restaurant has rugged spaces, it creates a family and personal impression. The approach and behavior of the waiters will pleasantly surprise you. You can find there the absolute gastronomic professionalism and willingness of advise or recommendation of the menu. The whole staff´s care is perfect, we have always felt like in an absolutely top restaurant. Unfortunately, this caringness is no longer commonly seen nowadays, but here in Whitre Cow restaurant you will experience real professionals who enjoy their work and fulfill it. As for the food, we were not afraid to try any dish that is on the card. They offer a permanent menu and also have a special menu prepared according to the seson ingredients at that time. I definitely recommend tasting beef tartare, I've never eaten better anywhere. Snails are also excellent and foie grass pate with various types of marmalade is excellent. Vegetarians are welcome as well, but this restaurant, as its name reveals, is mainly for beef lovers. I firmly believe that you will not get better beef steaks anywhere else in Prague. Their prices are proportional to the quality of the food. Finally you find a restaurant in which you get dish, that you do not prepare it in the same quality at home. I often come across the fact that many restaurants in comparison to the price versus output is completely inadequate, but this does not happen to you while visiting the White Cow restaurant. For me and all my loved ones, it is the best restaurant in Prague. If you will come to Prague for a holiday or business trip or just passing through, definitely call and make some time for lunch or dinner in this family cosy restaurant. They also offers a selection of the best wines from Czech family wineries or quality wines from the whole world. Tasting Czech homemade schnapps are also excellent. Visit this place, eat well and enjoy a wonderful visit like us always we are in the White...
Read moreI was accompanied by two other friends, one of which wanted to eat out at a steakhouse. We were on vacation, and wanted to go to an extravagant restaurant, eat alot and have a good time. We started with an appetizer, the Carpaccio. This was absolutely delicious. The pesto and arugula worked well with the beef. During this we tried a wine (all of which were overpriced), but settled on a cheaper red wine. I would not recommend getting wine unless you wanted to spend a lot of money. I also bought a french ale which was light and perfect (and was more tasty then the wine). We all ordered steak, two of us ordered a medium-well (which was a bit under cooked), and one of us ordered a rare (which he fancied very well). The side dish of potatoes gratin was very good. Presentation on the plates was beautiful, and the steak itself was tender but not as heavenly as many other described. Lastly, we all wanted to try many of their desserts. We ordered the creme brulee, which was a large portion. The top sugar coat was very under cooked/caramelized and I found myself grinding grains of sugar in my mouth. I couldn't bring myself to finish it. We also ordered the liquid nitrogen frozen creme with raspberry sauce. The sauce was delightfully tart and sweet, the creme was not frozen all the way, and as a result was a bit too runny. It is quite a sight though- the waiter prepares this at your table. We all found our waiter fairly rude and elusive in times of need, until a generous tip was provided (not by myself), in which case the waiter suddenly was very friendly and treated us like we all were old pals. The major reason I removed a star was because my creme brulee was not well cooked and our waiter was rude and had to be flagged down with a force that made me feel like I was a international maritime signal flagger for a...
Read moreI was very impressed with the quality of the beef. To be honest, and following a visit to an Argentinian steak house serving grass-fed beef in another city, I was a little bit worried that my wife wouldn't like the Charolais grass-fed beef, but the leanness and flavour of the steaks didn't take away from its amazing tenderness. In the end, she offered that it was the "best steak I ever had, ever".
As more than one person here has said, the first thought I had after finishing the 300 g tenderloin was "I could really do with another steak". Sides of spinach and mash potato were perfectly fine, as were the soups and the carpacio we had to start off, but really you come here for the steaks, you eat the steaks and then you go. One small detail I loved was the desserts: we did get the "make at the table with liquid nitrogen" ice cream, and yes it was fun but more importantly: it wasn't a saccharine attack like you would expect in other countries. As with elsewhere in Prague, the desserts are really about a lot more than just sugar. Definitely order the ice cream after your steak.
The service was impeccable. Just the right amount of attention for a place which is so (surprisingly) busy, even in the middle of the week. At under US$ 100 for a three-course meal for two including a bottle of wine, it is pretty competitive for this kind of steak house and I would say it competes with places of similar...
