Updated Review: Ever since we discovered this place, we’ve come back multiple times and tried a variety of items—honey cake, Napoleon cake, baklava, classic lemonade, khinkali, and Turkish tea. Everything has been absolutely delicious, without exception. The service has been consistently great, and the staff are always kind and professional, no matter how busy it gets. This has quickly become one of our favorite spots!
Original review: We had a wonderful breakfast at MATOKA Georgian, Bakery & Coffee and left already planning to return.
I ordered the Zhuzhuna, while my husband went for the Salmon Benedict Waffles. For drinks, we chose the Raspberry tea and the Seabuckthorn tea.
The Raspberry tea was the absolute highlight of our breakfast — perfectly balanced, fragrant, and so refreshing. If I’d had the space, I would have happily ordered another pot. The Seabuckthorn tea was also delicious, but it didn’t quite have the usual citrusy tang that sea buckthorn is known for.
The Zhuzhuna was comforting and flavorful — I really enjoyed it. My husband thought the Salmon Benedict Waffleswere very tasty as well, though he mentioned the waffles were a little too crispy for his liking. He wished that the waffle to lean slightly softer to balance the toppings.
The café itself is lovely: neatly decorated, very clean, and with a warm atmosphere. It also has a couple of tables set inside windowsills - make sure to get one if it is available! The staff were kind and attentive, and our food arrived quickly. We also appreciated the modern touch of scanning a QR code to view the menu, order directly from the table, and see the remaining wait time for the order to arrive — super convenient!
Overall, MATOKA is a gem for anyone looking for delicious Georgian-inspired breakfast...
Read moreI love this place for its simplicity and great taste. The menu is clear with traditional dishes. The Adjarian khachapuri is incredible — perfect and huge, really too much for one person. The kharcho soup was amazing, I truly enjoyed it!
The Napoleon in a glass is unbelievable — the best I’ve ever had. It has lots of custard, not too sweet, just perfect.
However, the regular portion of Napoleon, the one cut from the cake, was disappointing. Out of 15–20 layers, only 3–4 were actually filled with cream. The rest was just dry pastry, so it felt like eating plain dough. The same problem sometimes happens with the Medovik cake. The taste is wonderful, but when the edges are not filled well, it becomes too dry.
All the pastries are always fresh, and you can ask for a fresher piece if needed. I also heard good feedback from both German and Japanese guests, which means the food here is really international.
Special thanks to the team for their service, friendliness, and attentiveness — you’re doing a fantastic job in such a small and not fancy place.
Unfortunately, there are few seats...
Read moreI visited two times. Really felt uncomfortable! The owner who is from Uzbekistan, not even a Georgian, is not professional bussinessman and not hospitable person when you enter it you feel the pressure radiating from him whether you can buy a lot or just a caffe. The prices are crazy, very expensive, and it does not look like a restaurant. The personal sraff forces you to buy more than you need. Unpleasent! I was last time, ordered some coffee, cake, tee pot, not a little, stayed longer bcs had a lot of issues to solve. Last time I visited it and the owner lied to me that the table is reserved. After me came another woman, he gave her the table. I asked her, she really did not reserve it. 🤦♀️🤦♀️I asked him, he said, well she needed it shortly. - ok! But he did not ask me, for how long I need it. He just decided that I probably do not order much. But The woman also did not order much. Strange and disgusting! The cakes...
