This Expo was actually built for the Brussels Expo of '58 designed by USSR. It is a very little known fact that architecture back in those days in the Soviet Union was very strict and had to go through a lot of censorship, regulations and the other Cold War era stuff. However, the architects of this piece actually got the green light and the building was built in blocks which were assembled in Brussels and then re-assembled in Prague after the expo of '58. Back in around the year of 2000 it was a restaurant but now it is an office building. A lot of history in this little underrated piece of history. Even for the year of '58 it looks very futuristic. Don't quote me on that but I believe the building did win the expo award...

Much to my surprise, this monumental building features a café and wine bar that exceeded all our expectations. The coffee was not just great but you could taste that it was prepared with love. The classic cups with the dark roast Italian coffee was a treat for the senses. On every one of our visits the coffee just became better and better and we even deviated to sampling the affordable but really exceptional wines. The Slovak lady who served us the coffee is a real yoga master and an absolute passionate coffee expert. The French gentleman who served us the wines was able to read our minds and picked the perfect drinks for our already spoiled taste buds. This is another one of those places that has become a favorite...

Pavilon tvořený několika budovami a reprezentující Československo na světové výstavě Expo 58 v Bruselu byl jednoznačným úspěchem a získal nejvyšší ocenění - Zlatou hvězdu a k tomu třináct dalších ocenění. Autory návrhu pavilonu a tedy i restaurace typické svým polokruhovým tvarem je trojice architektů František Cubr, Zdeněk Pokorný a Josef Hrubý (autor obchodního domu Bílá Labuť).

The Pavilion, made up of several buildings and representing Czechoslovakia at the World Expo 58 in Brussels, was a clear success and was awarded the highest prize - the Golden Star and thirteen other awards. The authors of the pavilion design and therefore the restaurant typical of it´s semi-circular shape are three architects František Cubr, Zdeněk Pokorný and Josef Hrubý (author of the famous Bílá Labuť department store). After the exhibition, due to the great success of the pavilion, it was decided to dismantle and transfer it to Prague in 1959. In the autumn of 1991 however the exhibition pavilion burned down and was later demolished. After years of dilapidation, the restaurant on Letná Street has been converted into an advertising agency office, and since 2021, a part of the building has also housed an...
