I will not rate the service or atmosphere cause I wasn’t in the restaurant in person. I walked by the restaurant many times since I live here and it does seem like a nice place to hang out. Now, I ordered a burger, some chicken strips and some fries, for food delivery. After paying over 600czk and waiting one hour for it, I expected something better than McDonalds (which was my initial choice). The burger was submerged by sauce that tasted very weird (yes I know that its blue sauce, but this one tasted rancid). The burger was clearly frozen just like the chicken, which tasted like they were re-fried (super hard crust and tasteless dry meat inside) so I thought that at least the fries should come in good, but no, there were pieces of other food that I didn’t order (caramelised onions and other veggies - now work that with allergic reactions) … Even the extra bacon I asked for wasn’t cooked properly (crusty on the side almost raw in the middle). I don’t usually leave many reviews and I don’t want to sound like Im hating on the restaurant, as I said, it does look like a nice place and maybe I just made the wrong order… however it is just a feedback, to avoid making people spend this much for so little… if this is the standard then at least lower the price because honestly McDonalds...
Read moreGood Lord, the burgers. The delicious burgers. I've been there several times now, and every burger is better than the last. The buns, the patties, the condiments, the materials from which everything is made: all top notch. I was originally going to say that the "Tower of Power" was one of the best burgers I have had in Prague, but that's not accurate; it's one of the best burgers I've ever had in my LIFE! Besides lunch, I also took my wife and friends to brunch here a couple weeks ago, and I ended up ordering 4 different entrees because everything on the menu was so fantastic. Just thinking about the breakfast sandwich makes me salivate. I can't wait to go back for brunch again next week!
The atmosphere in The Tavern is cozy and warm, and it's somewhere that immediately feels comfortable to spend time, so eating in is definitely recommended. The waitress was sweet and friendly, and the owners, Lori and Dean, are gregarious and kind.
Frankly, The Tavern is now one of my most favorite places in the city. I will be going there for as long as they're open. The food is incredible, the prices are fair (if not a bit on the cheap side), and everything about the place is wonderful. I only have fantastic things to say...
Read moreAbsolutely unprofessional service. I’ve eaten at The Tavern a few times before and they have pretty good burgers but today when I called to make a reservation for a dinner with friends, I interacted with the most arrogant staff person who also claimed to be their manager. When asked if their burger buns contain milk because a friend is allergic to dairy, I was told that they can’t be 100% sure and can’t vouch for whether even their vegan burger buns contain milk in them! On what basis they claim the burgers are vegan then, I do not know. When I asked out of courtesy if I could call them back to let them know whether I’d still like to make a reservation with them, I got a very snarky “Why are you asking me if you can call back? Just call back if you want to.” in return. And when I said I didn’t appreciate the way I was being spoken to, the response was “That’s your problem.” So I AM making it my problem and taking my business elsewhere. Plenty of excellent burger joints in Prague to explore where I don’t have to endure painfully unprofessional staff. It’s a damn shame to see what used to be a small, cosy burger place like The Tavern grow too big for its...
