We had been planning to visit this sushi restaurant for quite some time, and I’m glad we finally did. Before even talking about what we ordered and how it tasted, I’d like to emphasize that the atmosphere and the service were exactly what we were looking for. The waiters were kind, polite, and attentive without being intrusive, and we did not have to wait long for our food to arrive, which is always a plus.
The atmosphere was elegant yet stylish, with a refined simplicity that made the dining experience feel calm and comfortable. The best part, however, was the quietness of the place. Many restaurants in Prague tend to be either too loud or at least moderately noisy, but this one stood out for its minimal background noise. That quietness added a wonderful sense of relaxation to our dinner, almost like a small escape from the busy city outside. Honestly, we enjoyed this peaceful environment even more than the food itself – and that says a lot.
Now, onto the food. We ordered the Sushi + Sashimi + Maki Set. The presentation was beautiful – colorful, fresh, and with a nice touch of detail like garnishes and flowers that made the plate visually appealing. The salmon sashimi was outstanding: juicy, fresh, and full of flavor. The butterfish sashimi was equally impressive, with a smooth, delicate texture that melted in the mouth. The tuna sashimi, while fresh, unfortunately did not meet the same standard – it tasted somewhat oily and lacked the richness of flavor we expected.
As for the nigiri, they were generally okay, but they didn’t stand out. Personally, I felt the rice-to-fish ratio could have been better balanced. The fish slices were a bit thin, and I would have preferred thicker, more generous cuts. The maki rolls (salmon and tuna) were tasty and enjoyable, though not exactly memorable or “wow-worthy.”
To sum up, we were very pleased with the service, the food, and especially the atmosphere. For us, the combination of attentive staff and a truly quiet, relaxing environment made this visit special. It’s rare to find a place in Prague that emphasizes calmness as part of the dining experience, and this restaurant does exactly that.

Read moreWas curious to try Hanil as I’m from the neighborhood and love Japanese and Korean cuisine. The reviews also seemed very good so I was looking forward to trying it out.
The service was pleasant enough to begin with, a bit slow, but that can happen. We read through their more than complicated menu. Definitely a first red flag if you will. They are known mostly for their sushi as I was reading through the reviews but my partner does not enjoy it so we tried typical Korean dishes to test the food as we know exactly how it tastes, having been in Korea only a month prior.
The food didn’t come too quickly not too late. But it was bland. Bland and tasteless. Considering the Bulgogi was 320, which is a premium, which places such as Sumi Garden and Tomo can offer because their food is delicious. This was not. I was very dissatisfied. I was planning to perhaps try their sushi at a later date, but when I did not leave a tip the waiter looked at me with disgust, then I knew that coming again would not be a good idea. Even I didn’t give the food such a look of disrespect.
A disappointing evening to...
Read moreGo now. Just go… because food is 10/10.
This is a wild review to write because my husband and I spent a month in Europe recently (London, Rome, Prague, Vienna) and went to many Michelin/boujee restaurants and made 50+ reservations because we are psychos who love food… anyways, we spontaneously stopped by this spot for a “pre-lunch snack” (yes, we are champions) …
Let’s just say- we have consistently told people that Hanil has the best food of our entire trip…… now, Hanil is not boujee (ex. Steirereck Vienna wins best cheese cart of all time, Connaught bar London had the best martini)…. And maybe we’re biased because we love Korean food? (Also, went to Seoul a few months ago and Hanil beats everything we ate there). But mannnnnnn Hanil. Best food of the trip (bibimbap, kimchi, japchae…)…. Makes average service good. Makes average atmosphere good.
I would literally give up a toe - a TOE - to have this restaurant in my home town. The food is...
