Tonkin Restaurant Praha 6 Bubeneč — Restaurant in Prague

Tonkin reopened with a new menu in August and so cool, they now have pad kee mao on the menu. I had it a couple of days after they reopened and it was good.

So I had their pad kee mao again last week, and disappointment: no thai basil. None at all. Nada. Now thai basil is the ingredient that makes pad kee mao, plus it's listed on the menu. So that's plain deceitful. Plus, bummer that it hasn't even taken Tonkin one month and the quality went down. One month. So guys, you want to go the way of most Vietnamese restaurants in Prague and cook vegetables in oyster sauce and call it exotic names, sure, go for it. But then you don't deserve those four stars. If you think customers are stupid and won't know and won't notice, you are wrong. We've been to Asia, we've had pad kee mao elsewhere, we've bought thai basil, we've cooked with it. We know what to expect, and what you're cooking it ain't.

I first left this review on Tonkin's feedback page on their website, suggesting that I expect them to react. They didn't bother, so public it is. And for anyone looking for Thai dishes, do yourself a favor and check out the blue Thai restaurant on Jindřišská.

Simply delicious and great prices. I arrived at 20.00 and sadly the Pho was already sold out. I opted for some Tom Yum soup with chicken, the Red Curry (side not included) and a side of Vietnamese noodles. I ended with the coconut jelly.

Everything was brought incredibly fast and tasted great. The Tom Yum was a relatively small portion. It arrived scolding hot, not too spicy and very creamy. Just how I like it!

The red curry was on the mild side with regards to the curry flavor, but all the ingredients made up for it.

I was skeptical about the coconut jelly desert and it’s small size, but it definitely delivered. If you’re a fan of that jelly texture, this is worth taking and even sharing if you can make yourself to give away half.

Definitely coming back here. It appears the noodles dishes and Pho are the definite strengths of this restaurant, so I will have to come back to...

This is the best Asian restaurant in my life. Pad Thai, pho - in my opinion they are the best exactly here. I’m also in love with Laksa.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I live in front of restaurant and I go there 2 times a week at least. 🥰 Girls, who are working there serve great customer service, they are working really hard, even when restaurant in full, never miss anything. I love coming here.
