If you want the typical Prague experience, you should definitely come here. The waiter comes right after you have drunk the last sip of your beer and asks if you want more. It's crowded and loud but just the right "amount". In the afternoon hours the place starts to fill in with locals who come here after work to talk to friends/family and just relax sipping beer and having some dinner. The beer is cheap and the atmosphere friendly.
The place doesn't have much to offer for vegetarians, let alone vegans, but I managed to order a meal consisting of fried cheese and veggies fried in butter. The dinner was very tasty. The dessert as well but as a result of an interpreting mistake, I got a pancake instead of a piece of cake. I waited and waited and it turned out "the cake" was being prepared" at the same time. However, I didn't mind the mistake because the dessert was delicious, with sour cream...
Read morePilsner Urquelle restaurants (Restaurants in the Czech Republic are affiliated with the breweries) seem to have pushed out the other brewery's eating establishments in the heart of Prague, Although many of these are good, it is well worth seeking out the Budvar examples. Although the PU is great (and the Kozel Dark is in a league of its own), to my taste the independent, Budwieser Budvar is a superior beer. This is a Budvar restaurant, and the food is very good, We ate there twice on our recent trip to Prague. I had the roast duck (mislabeled in English as "Duck Confit" ) that was very satisfying. Roasted almonds are a must - be warned, this is a big serving also. The goulash is very good also. This is a little out of the "tourist" area, but is easily accessible by Tram 18 or the green subway. It is worth the little effort to get there. Did I mention that the...
Read moreFood was good, not mind blowing but good. The problem was the waitress. She was unnecessarily passive aggressive. Even though we got 4 main dishes for 2 people, she kept asking for what drinks we wanted, the first 3 times we said water, but she just kept coming back and asking (apparently we cannot get water? We never recieved it) At the end we got tea, since it was hot I accidentally dropped my teabag, after asking politely she said she didn't want to give me a new one. How much do they even cost? 15 cents? Truly hostile. Then at the end she asked directly for a tip, not something common in this culture. Truly weird experience. All the comments here are about how bad the waitress is why doesn't the establishment do...
