Kayak Bar — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

I ordered a glass of wine and got it in a plastic cup, when i asked if i could have it in a wine glass, i was told no.

The reasoning was that they had closed the dishwasher and had therefore stopped giving out glasses.

At the same time as I was asking, I saw another server pouring beers in beer glasses and handing them out. At this point It was 20:55 in the evening.

I was told by the server that if I was a proper wine connoisseur I would know that wine does not taste differently in a plastic cup, compared to a glass. I was also told that she had several wine connoisseur friends that would say the same. I didn’t want to start an argument so i just said that’s a bad reason but fine.

I was left with a bitter feeling and it ended up affecting my time at the bar in a Negativ way, I felt unappreciated and talked down to. I would personally have reprimanded one of my employees if I had seen them act with such behavior towards a costumer.

In conclusion i was disappointed with my time at kayak bar, even though they have a otherwise very pleasing and welcoming ascetic and their pricing is within reason.

14-07-2025 I had an amazing experience from start to finish after four years. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh ingredients, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Small menu but had a great balance of creativity and comfort for all. The service was equally impressive. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was perfect. What stood out most was how knowledgeable they were—not just about the menu, but about the ingredients, pairings techniques. You can tell they’re passionate and really know their stuff. It’s rare to find such a great combination with great atmosphere of this in one place.

This is a hidden gem in Copenhagen by tourist standards. We stumbled across it and went straight in. The vibe is just great, with fabulous music playing at just the right volume. It's a real mix of people just relaxing with beer, food, and friends by the riverside. The staff were super helpful, and there's a great selection of beers to choose from. (I recommend the draught Carlsberg, which is a lot better than the bottled gash we get in the UK.)

The chicken burgers were just brilliant, 4/5 of us had them and thought they were among the best we'd had. The fifth had a burger, which was also proclaimed lovely.
