We went by this restaurant around 6PM and asked for a table. The person at the desk asked if we had reservation, if not, NO table ...and so even if the terrasse and the restaurant were far from being full. We just wanted to eat and go, but again it was impossible... sorry. So we stepped out and decided to make a reservation through their website, and surprise, there was plenty of space starting from 7PM (it was 6:30Pm) and later on. We came back and showed our reservation, which she hesitated to acknowledge. Inside the restaurant, she choose for us a table at the back of the restaurant, but it was OK, each table having white tablecloth and being cosy. My husband choose the 4-course dinner, and I decided to go with the lobster bisque and the blanquette of 3-panfried scallops as an entree, which are generally suffisant as I am not a big eater. My husband received a 1-inch wide slice of cured salmon as an entree, small and very salted. We then had both the lobster soup, which was very, very, salted. The main dish for my husband was haddock, presented as a small round slice of pressed haddoch pieces, few green peas and 2 small thin baby carrots, desapointing for a fish restaurant! I received for my part the following entree (paid 185 crowns): one scallop sliced in three, in a little bit of sauce and few green peas, the whole entree being equivalent to around 1 tablespoon (paid 185 crowns)!!! For the strawberry dessert, the brioche mentioned was probably these few pieces of crumble found at the bottom of the plate. We don't mind spending 1000 crowns, if the food and savors are there. But this is not the case in this restaurant! And as other clients, we had to wait 30 minutes to received...
Read moreI don’t know where to start. We came here as a group of 5 and paid right after we placed our orders. The lobster soup arrives for the table, completely inedible. It was unbearably salty, and as someone that usually adds salt to most dishes, this was shockingly over salted. I sent my soup back to the kitchen where it was remade and sent back out with more cream however it was still unbearable. The manager assured me the chef would make sure the mains wouldn’t disappoint us. I didn’t eat any of it and waited for mains where I was shocked to taste the haddock was served cold and was salty yet again. We waited an hour and a half for the catch of the day to discover the chef had forgotten it completely. I cannot put into words how disappointed I was when the fish was over salted yet again I don’t understand how this can happen 4 times in the same night. The manager told us the chef had tasted it and said it was fine, which is not possible as 5 different people agreed it was inedible. I don’t know if I am more upset by the food or the service. The price paid at this establishment was near 3000 DKK and everyone left hungry and upset. Avoid at all costs, save yourself the time and money. Instead of rectifying this issue, the manager gave us free tea and said that it made up half of the bill which was inaccurate, not to mention I came for fish, not 3 pots of tea. I’m no mathematician, but that doesn’t add up...
Read moreWe went here for Lunch on a Saturday with three persons. Reserving a table was easy, we came a bit early but still got a nice table inside. Unlike the current “chic” the ambiance of the place was refreshingly nice with white table cloths and linen napkins (which seems to no longer be “en vogue” in even some of the most expensive restaurants I go to. Restaurant staff were extremely friendly and professional by which I mean they deserved to work in such a nice place and had obviously been trained to do the job. Excitement grew. The menu was short and interesting which excited me even more. I don’t trust restaurants with extensive menus. Normally means they do a lot but nothing the right way. Krogs was no disappointment. The food was excellent. We tried everything including the wonderful strawberry dessert which had so many individual highlights that this review wouldn’t suffice. Topped with an excellent espresso, this was by a long shot the best fish restaurant I’ve been to in years and I go a lot and across the globe.
I full heartedly recommend this place to anyone interested in experiencing fish away from the beaten tracks. Not boring but exciting.
Thank you first and foremost to the staff who made this a...
