Average food, average prices, sub-par service. Stopped in for a quick meal the other day. We were promptly handed menus and invited to seat ourselves. And we waited, and we waited. Tried to catch someone's eye to place an order, but perhaps they thought we had the plague, or ebola, or some such. Another couple seated themselves nearby and joined the wait. They eventually got fed up and left.
Once we were finally able to tackle a waitperson and place our order, the food and drinks arrived in a reasonable time. Our food, a Zirup Burger, and Truffle Burger were unremarkable at best. Zirup burger is just a basic bacon cheeseburger. Cooked properly, but not particularly seasoned, or high quality beef. No worse than many restaurants in the neighborhood, but certainly no better. Same can be said for the Truffle Burger with the added observation that it's really just truffle mayo that's added, and you can't really taste the truffle.
Total for two burgers and a moderately priced bottle of red wine was roughly USD100 (fairly typical for the area and type of...
Read moreWe stopped here by random after walking the cold winter streets of Copenhagen.
The menu is small, but it looked nice from the menu. Unfortunately it didn't in real life. I ordered Fish and chips, and I got something that looked like fried fish fingers. No delicious batter, just some breadcrumbs-mix on fried fish fingers. I suspect the fish not to be cod either, but most likely pollock. The fries was okay though. Some strange green salad on the side with fennel infused (?) pickled red onions? My friend ordered quesadilla, and got something that looked like a fajita. Sorry folks, but this is not good enough!
I can come back a day when the weather is nicer, because the terrace outside looks nice. And the drinks menu looks okay too. Hopefully they can't screw that up the same way they did with the food.
The girls working there (I didn't see any male staff) was nice and friendly, doing their best to serve the guests. Too bad the kitchen doesn't follow up.
Skip the food. Go...
Read moreI visited Zirup a few days ago with a friend at around 18:30-19:00. We sat outside, where there weren’t many other customers. We ordered nachos and a bottle of water, and after finishing our food, we decided to play some cards.
After about 15 minutes, a waiter approached us and told us that playing cards wasn’t allowed. We were genuinely surprised by this rule. It seems odd that a café, especially one that caters to a younger crowd, would prohibit card games. I could understand if the place was packed and we were occupying a table for an extended period, but we had only been there for less than an hour, and there were plenty of empty tables.
Since we had purchased food and drinks, we expected a more welcoming experience. Unfortunately, the restriction felt unnecessary, and the service was...
