Me and some friends had a bad experience. We were seated at 18:30 and had our orders taken at around 18:45. We ordered appertizers (burrata), knowing that the place was a bit busy, as well as pizza. It took 30 min. before the burrata arrived which is literally a ball of cheese and some half cherry tomatoes on the side - so it wasn't fast service, but at this point still alright.
Afterwards we waited another 45 minutes though and at that point we went and asked what was going on. They ensured us, that it was on its way, but a little later, the waiter told us that our pizzas weren't even in the oven and was still 2nd in line.
So we asked for the manager, but the manager told the waiter that if we wanted to speak to her, we would have to go to her.
Funny enough they arrive with the pizza as the manager finally steps out. We tell her that we have waited a long time and her response is; "this isnt mcdonalds" and "you dont work in a restaurant, so you dont understand anything". There was no "sorry for the wait" or "you can have a beer on the house" or any service what so ever which could completely have defused the situation. So we left the pizzas untouched.
The manager was extremely rude. I tried to calm the situation, but she kept raising her voice, when i tried to voice that we were only frustrated that we felt let on as we were told that the food "was coming". The food is not "coming" if you havent preparred it yet. And our food clearly got prioritized as we were threatening to leave, as if the finished pizzas would force us to stay.
After a back and forth with the manager, we got to a point where we agreed that we could leave without paying - which I guess is something. But honestly, they could have gotten so much further with a better attitude or at least let us have the chance of cancelling the order, knowing that we would have to wait almost 1,5 hour for pizza.
Im sure the pizza is great, but the...
Read moreWe arrived at the restaurant Luca 8 minutes before our reservation in April. We were told by the staff that we had to go outside and wait our turn, not asking what we prefer but just to go outside. We ended up going outside and wait, the time for our reservation came, but no staff came to tell us the table was ready while standing outside of the door. When we walked back in, we got sit to our table, and we ordered “tagliere” as a starter, which we had done before with great pleasure. However, this time, instead of serving a tagliere with Italian pecorino or Parmesan, they served French Brie. When we asked the staff about it, they told us the menu has changed, which is weird that an Italian place decided to serve French cheese and I have a hard time believing that. Of course, we wanted to enjoy the starter but the main course was served 8-12 minutes after the starter was served, and with no help from the waiter,we had to make room on the table and we didn’t have time to eat our starter, which was really unprofessional. Moreover, the table was placed next to a door that brings upstairs, and the waiters kept letting the door open in April ( in Copenhagen) and people were complaining that they couldn’t enjoy their dinner because we were freezing. At one time, one waiter slapped the door against one of us with no apologies and kept the door open. After we were done with dinner, no waiter came to ask us how dinner was, removing the plates or if we wanted coffee or a dessert. We didn’t have any interaction with the waiters betwee the main course and paying. To sum up: food was okay without taking into consideration French cheese in an Italian restaurant, but the service was non-existent and very...
Read moreI was looking for a Neapolitan pizzeria in Copenhagen in the mid of January 2024 one Friday afternoon somehow found Pizzeria Luca :)
I took Parma e bufala pizza and it was amazing! Exactly "by the book" - thin and soft crust, it was of course few spots of burning, but its normal thing.
Dough was puffed up around the sides and it had a very airy crust. I would say not often the sides are so "easy" eatable, but that pizza I ate that day was perfect, put little bit olive oil - great!
Juicy and smooth - good proportion of tomato sauce!
Finally, I met even Chef Gioacchino and we talked for a while about pizza making (was good to get some tips, due to I try to do some pizzas at home too. He is a really passionate about what he is doing and a really good communicator! Good to meet.
I was visiting out of peak hours and as its mentioned even in description - interior is not really generally Italian style, as I would like to see it :) but we are in Copenhagen to remember, not in Italy.
Without any doubts - highly recommended and I am looking forward to come here again to talk for a while with Chef! I can imagine it could be perfect to sit outside near Gammel Strand during the summer while eating one of the pizzas.
I will somehow assosiate song Raffaella Carrà - Luca :)
Grazie...
