Osteria 16 — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

Ate here 3 weeks ago on a thursday early night. After traveling the world for food this is one of the single best finds i've had. They serve this menu of the day which was 7 courses, kinda of selection of antipasti and a pasta at the end served family style The first 3 antipasti were absolutely delicious, the marinated raw scampi was super good and the pulpo carppacio was 10/10, the wine was really good too. Pasta at the end was super simple salsiccia pasta which was elegant and simple. Tiramisu for dessert brought it home for us. We had a baby with us and altough the place was clearly not really set out for kids, which is fine by me and they didnt even have a high chair, the waitress did her best to accomodate us which i appreciate very much. We loved the general ambiance of this venue, a relaxing, semi casual feel and overall very homely and welcoming. The timing in-between dishes was perfect, and the drinks menu offered a great selection to accompany the food.

The set menu truely takes the stress out of ordering, the whole experience was very relaxing (and accomodating to difficult dietaries too, which we wholeheartedly love and amend!).

All in all a lovely place. The set menu was a 7 course starter, tapas style, heavily fish oriented, followed by a pasta dish of spicy sausage. I’d give them a solid 4 out of 5, let down by the presentation of the bill at the end with 15% service pre-filled on the machine. This was confusing because there was no mention of service included or otherwise on the bill itself and we expected the bill to include service. Apparently it is the law in Denmark that service must be included on restaurant bills! As such, restaurant staff and taxi drivers etc do not expect tips because they earn a living wage. Maybe the tips are only extracted/ expected...
