We didn't have a great experience at the restaurant. We opted for the three course Christmas menu at 495 DKK, and there were various issues with that:
The servings were surprisingly small. A small starter with not much taste and finished in three-four mouthfuls. The duck, which was the main course was only one small slice with very little to accompany it. The waitress poured a little sauce over it but then left with the half-full sauce-can, and we were offered no more afterwards. To make up for the two very small courses, the dessert was overwhelmingly full of cream and left us feeling bloated. There was a lack of seasoning for the food in general. Too little salt.
The chef seems to be very fond of cranberry, since that was in all three courses, unfortunately overpowering with its bitter aftertaste.
Upon saying that I wanted non-alcoholic beverages, I was offered a drink, which was essentially an overpriced Fanta. For dinner, I asked for a non-alcoholic beer, and was not given a choice but received, what was apparently the only one available. It was much too bitter in taste and not well suited to accompany food.
We overheard the waiter asking the neighboring table, if everything was fine, and they answered that the servings were very small. He told them "ok", and left without further conversation.
We paid at the end and stood around for a bit, but no one came to say goodbye or thank you, so we left.
The experience was not...
Read moreWe enjoyed a lovely lunch outdoors at Restaurant Maven, situated adjacent to the historic Nikolaj Church in central Copenhagen. The setting was charming, offering a cozy ambiance that perfectly complemented the city's vibrant atmosphere.
The clientele appeared to be a mix of locals and tourists, many seeking an authentic Danish smørrebrød experience. The menu featured a variety of traditional open-faced sandwiches, all prepared with high-quality ingredients and presented with care. While the portion sizes were modest, ordering two to three pieces per person was sufficient and allowed for a satisfying sampling of flavors.
Pricing aligns with expectations for central Copenhagen; our lunch for two, including beverages, totaled just under 1,000 DKK. Given the quality of the food and the overall experience, we found this to be reasonable. The service was prompt and attentive, and the wait times were as anticipated for a busy midday meal.
Overall, Restaurant Maven offers a delightful dining experience with delicious food, efficient service, and a picturesque location. It's a spot we would gladly recommend to others seeking a taste of Danish cuisine in a...
Read moreI came to this place twice. The first time the waitress I spoke to upon walking in told me on the 22nd at 230 p.m. that the kitchen was closing for the day. I asked if they'd be open tomorrow she said yes and that I did not need a reservation. So I returned on the 23rd at 1pm. I spoke to the same waitress blonde tatted arms. Again she was rudely obnoxious as I asked if I could have lunch. She said the kitchen was closing at 3pm and that there was no availability. That I should have made a reservation. I told her she did not mention anything of that nature yesterday. I saw a few tables opened and asked with it being my second time coming and being denied that I wanted to speak to the manager long story short no one was available to speak to. Other than by email. So in short rude staff. They should train them better after having made two trips to their location so as to not waste a...
