I  stayed 4 nights at citizenM in Copenhagen and unfortunately it is not a hotel I would recommend. This is why:

The Setup: when my taxi dropped me in front I had to double check that we had actually arrived at the correct location. Hotel is in a quasi nondescript building with minimal signage and looks like an apartment building (over the 4 days, I saw many stranded guests like me wondering where the hotel was, as nobody was picking up at checking to let them in after hours). When you enter, there is just a desk and elevators and you have to go to the reception on the 7th floor to feel like you have arrived somewhere.

They make you work!!: once I finally got to the 7th floor I was excited to have finally arrived. Door opens to a large space and as I looked for the check in desks, I see a large round desk with a bunch of self serve check-in tablets. It appears I was gonna have to check myself in, you have to do the whole process including program your key card. Also you need to use the slowest ever (took 45s to a min to load) ipad mini to do everything in the room, adjust light, temperature, tuelr o. TV and even book your housekeeping. Annoying! I was in the mood to relax after a long trip, not to work work work.

Also at check out, I was checking out super early in the morning, and despite the "technological advancement"  of this hotel, unless I downloaded their "app", I had to schlep myself and all my luggage from the 1st to the 7th floor to check out in person at 4am and then back to the ground floor again,  although I had no balance to pay as once checked out I would not longer have access to my room. So I needed to carry all my luggage up me. How inconvenient!

The Rooms are very very very small. There is very little space for luggage or to hang anything in the room. The space is Ok for a solo traveller but it would not work for 2 people. Sink is in the room and none of the little things I like in a hotel such as drinking water, slippers, lots of towels  ect are present. Also no usb plugs in the room. It is as if modernity stopped at the iPad mini (circa 2012, 12 years ago!), there is one in the room to control the tv and various other things. there is no USB plug in the room. There is a common ironing room in the floor (you need to carry your clothes to it). A reusable water bottle can be collected from the reception...a bit of a journey if your room is on the 1st floor like mine was.

The room  housekeeping: I had cleaning twice in 5 days and it seemed very quick and rushed, none of the bath products were replenished. And after 1st cleaning, dirty cleaning rags were abandoned in the room. After the 2nd cleaning, it was dirty pillow case that was left atop my bag. Also all my empty reusable bottles of water were left in the room. See photos.

Area : I arrived around 6h30pm and took a little walk in the area and it is an area  (near city hall with a view of a construction site - see photos) where you encounter a lot of homelessness. When I went out later at night, there seems to be an area with lots of bars nearby, there you can see more homelessness, people clearly intoxicated (at 8pm) behaving erratically, including people peeing randomly. As a solo female traveller from a major city, the surroundings made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. That being said, it was very central and convenient to walk everywhere.

I pick hotels for the confort, and all those extras you don't get at an Airbnb... But unfortunately everything felt uncomfortable and like extra work, at citizenM. It felt to me like I was a bonified Airbnb (minus the space and kitchen and living room etc) given how minimal services were and had I known this was the branding of the hotel I would have picked elsewhere.... They should clearly advitise this was a NO service hotel. Further the staff seemed very inexperienced in terms of hotel or customer service. At €400+ a night, I expected a little more, particularly not to have to make so much effort to be...

Would give 3.5, but not possible. There are simply too.many design flaws in my eyes to make it a better standing. Please keep in mind, I don't know if other rooms were the same. (We had 550, view towards the courtyard) Positive: Easy access, while floors with guest rooms can only be accessed with the active room card. Clean +During Check-in it was possible to choose where the rooms should be (options: High/low floor level, towards courtyard or towards main street/outside) and choose again other options really large comfy bed minifridge minisafe staff friendly and helpfull really silent. You can not hear other guests and the only thing we were able to hear were the sirenes from the emergency services, but even those only at such a low level that you could only hear it when it was super quiet inside of the room and also then only reeealy silent. Top!

Neutral: Self check-in at terminals on top floor, but if you need assistance there is always personel around to help you. So, even if you are not a tech guru, you can check-in without any problem.

Negative: -Citizen M App and hence room control can only be used either via the room's Ipad, or the phone account of the person who made the booking. The second guest can not use the app on his own phone with a different account... Should be possible to have also the other guest to control the room. Reason: See next point.

While the most room functions can also be operated via normal switches, the most essential one cannot: Light control for the toilet. It has either the color-light which is only accessible via Ipad or mobile phone app, or a really small led light which is coupled to the room light. So if you have to get up at night, while the partner is asleep you either have to search for that ipad, wake up your partner or go to the toillet in full darkness.

-Room was not suitable for people with the slightest mobility restriction. (Bed is pretty high up, has to be acccessed by the foot end) -- Maybe there are special rooms. Ours was not.

-Airconditioning can not be turned off. Only auto/low/medium/high vent. Also even set to 24°C it was really cold in the room. (Average outside temp during our stay was between 15 and 18 °C)

toilet door is a diffuse glas door with pretty large gaps on lower and upper end. Even thought the room has overpressure (that's why you cannot turn off the AC) and suction/exit vent above the toilet, oddours end up in the room and you can hear everything.

shower door is badly designed. Every water drop which is sprayed at the door, flows under the door into the toilet area, but there is no drain, so you end up having a foot bath when you leave the shower. Or at least a soaking wet rug.

no space to accomodate two larger suitcases. There is only one huge drawer below the bed, which fits an hand bag sized open trolley, but nothing larger. So you have to take all your stuff out and put it into the drawer if you are not staying alone. Or always open and close the suitcases.

we choose to have our room cleaned every day, because my friend simply liked to have it cleaned daily. But we did not intend to have the towels changed daily, so we did not put them on the floor, but they got still exchanged. Seems like this hotel does not know the world wide towel-exchange-communication code. (If towel not on ground,...

Firstly, location is superb. From airport to hotel it took me 25 mins via the metro. When you come out of Rådhuspladsen Station the hotel is directly across the road. You’re right on the doorstep of the City Hall and Tivoli - as well as an abundance of restaurants, cafés and bars.

During my four days in Copenhagen I didn’t use any public transport; except for travelling to and from the airport. Copenhagen is a very walkable city - or you can hire bikes if you so wish.

Checking in was easy. A staff member was busy checking in a family so I did it myself - instructions on the screen were easy enough to follow. After checking in the staff member came over to check everything was ok and answer any questions I had - which at that point were mainly food related! She also told me if I wanted my room cleaned I had to request it in advance via the rooms iPad.

I did request my room to be cleaned each day (they do a light clean and tidy, and every third day a more thorough clean). But to be honest, I really wasn’t bothered about having my room cleaned each day, as I’m pretty tidy anyway, and happy to use the same towels. Only thing I really wanted was to make sure I didn’t run out of loo roll! Perhaps this is a request that can be incorporated via the app, rather than requesting a daily clean..?

The room itself was compact, but functional and perfectly adequate. I liked the design of the room - which is kinda minimalist, but very comfortable.

The room has a safe in a drawer underneath the bed, and the other drawer is huge enough for you to store all your belongings. There’s also room to store your luggage, and hang some of your clothes.

There is a room (I believe there’s one on each floor) with an ironing board and iron, if you need it!

In your room you’re also provided with liquid hand soap, and two different types of shower gels/shampoos.

Everything regarding the room is controlled via the rooms iPad. Although you can’t switch off or leave on certain lights, playing around with the light and colour settings is a nice way to control how bright you want your room to be.

Shower was fabulous - hot and powerful.

Breakfast was excellent! Lots to choose from - plenty of hot & cold options, as well as tea and coffee. No matter what time I arrived for breakfast there was always plenty of food.

Nice mix of clientele at the hotel, tourists as well as people there on business.

This was also one of the quietest hotels I’ve stayed in.

I loved my stay here and would definitely return. Highly...

Our flight was late and as it had ticked over past midnight we got a text saying the room had been cancelled due to 'no show'. We got onto chat straight away and they confirmed that we still had a room and didn't know why it showed as cancelled. The room is bright and roomy. There is a hair dryer, towels, shampoo, conditioner and body cream. The pillows and bed were comfortable. The closet was small with only 6 hangers. There's also a largish drawer under the bed. The bed was sideways under the window with no extra shelf for night things like book or drink. The person by the window needs to crawl over their partner to nip to the toilet in the night. The bed is square so we tried putting our head under the window but our feet kept going off the end when wiggling around in our sleep, and still no shelf on one side. The room has a good 'blind' system with daytime blinds and night blackout blinds. The lights can be altered in colour and brightness which is all controlled with an ipad or in the app. The phone app kept loosing the booking, which was annoying. The only problem was all the lights are effected so you can't have it at a different level by the sink or in the toilet/shower. The sink is in the bedroom area which wasn't a problem and the toilet/shower is a seperate frosted unit. The TV is also controlled by the app or ipad. There's enough sockets but no USB sockets. They have aircon in each room as standard. There is a small fridge and safe. The breakfast choice was small and unimpressive compared to other hotels I've stayed in around the world. Certainly not worth the money at 200DK per person. But saying that, Denmark is expensive so maybe standard for that country. You can go out for breakfast as there's lots of cafes open around the area. Depending on the length of your stay, it might be good to pay to join the CitizenM membership which offers special deals like 15% off, late checkout and free breakfast, you'll get the money you paid for the membership back easily in what you save. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Highly recommended.
