I wanted to post a much more detailed review, but kept running out of characters. Look at wedding wire for my full review. We had a small wedding of 24 people (including the groom, Ian and I) and decided to privatize the wedding at an extra cost, which meant that the restaurant would not be open to the public on our day. We worked closely with the wedding planning team leading up to the wedding. This included completing a detailed 17 page google slides document with specific details on every aspect of the wedding. The lead wedding planner was very professional and did a wonderful job with the flowers and decorations. However, she told us on the day of the wedding that she would be leaving at 4:45. Not to worry though—she was leaving us in the very capable hands of her assistant. Everything fell apart after she left. It seemed like nothing went according to plan. It was the most stressful night of my entire adult life. We were lined up to come out and be introduced with the parents and bridal party and the planner’s assistant (I will refer to her as “A”) asked who would be doing the announcing. Hearing that the DJ wouldn’t be doing the announcements and that he didn’t speak English was very stressful On the doc, we included a champagne tower. There was no champagne at all, not even for a toast on our wedding night. We also specified on the doc that we wanted to dance the hora (hava nagila) immediately after Ian and I were introduced as man and wife. At almost the end of the night, I asked “A” and it seemed like she forgot it was supposed to happen. She quickly got Ian and I seated in plastic chairs facing each other and gathered everyone around. DJ didn’t know what the song was And I had to find it for him on YouTube. This entire time, there was no music playing and everyone just had to stand around and wait. I was interrupted by a server while I was dancing to ask me if I needed a drink. I responded “Sure. Mojito please” and I was told no. My maid of honor mentioned that 30 minutes prior when she asked for a margarita, she was told “no more margaritas”. For the second hour of open bar, there were no more margarita ingredients and they were making only very basic drinks/shots. I don’t know how this happened at a bar where only about 20 people were drinking. After the official cake cutting, we were told that they would let us know when they had cut up and dished the rest of the cake, but they did not. Most of our guests did not even know that there was cake. At the end of the night, when I asked if they could put the cake in a box, I was told they didn’t have boxes because the kitchen was closed. We ended up taking the cake with us in a cardboard wine glass box. With all of the chaos, I didn’t eat any of my food all night, but thought I would be able to take it with me. Wrong— there were no boxes.. I don’t understand how nobody had a key to the kitchen. I created beautiful place cards on large seashells which I painted with a gold trim and wrote each of our guests names on which were cleared and thrown away with the food. During the tasting, Ian and I were told that after the open bar was over, we were welcome to stay and continue paying for drinks, but after the last song played, we were practically thrown out. Overall, I felt like many of the important details were forgotten and had to be figured out in the moment. When we returned to the United States, I wrote the wedding planner an email expressing my disappointment. 2 1/2 weeks later and I have not received...
Read moreI had visited this place a couple of times in the past and wasnt never really a fan of them... visited again this year because relatives suggested to spend a day at the beach and just selected a random place for no reason
The place is lovely, beautiful interior design right in front of the beach, very clean and perfect for pictures.
The service was very very slow... it was difficult to find the waiter whenever wanting to order something, he barely passed by to verify if someone wanted to order something... it took a very long time to be able to finally order, it took a long time to get the food, it took a long time to get the bill... very nice gentleman, but not really happy with the pace he worked at and with his apparent lack of interest in assisting...
We ordered the tray of fish, lobster, calamari, fries, tostones and salad as an appetizer to share and it was very good and tasty 👍🏻
As main dishes, we ordered 2 plates of fried fish (they came with fries and salad) + a couple of drinks... making it a total of three dishes:
one appetizer two main dishes and some drinks
and our bill came close to RD$15,000 (around USD$250 dollars)...... VERY overpriced
Rest of the party ordered different dishes ; only complained about a pasta ordered for kids, because it wasnt even well cooked (it was not al dente, it was just not well cooked).... other than that, main complaint was about the service and how slow it was.
In conclusion, being their service so bad and their menu so absurdly overpriced - I would not really plan to return or recommend them... I would rather spend a whole day in Jelly Fish if in the area or in Punta...
Read moreNot much attention to service. Takes time to get the attention of the waiters. Bit on the expensive side. The place is nice as it's on the beach. It's good for tea, coffee and beer only as the food service is not up to any standard. Me and my husband ordered mojito and beer. Till there ok. Then we ordered pasta with white sauce and mushrooms (as I'm vegetarian) and my husband ordered beef with fried potatoes. After 5 minutes the waitress (very unprofessional with her choice of words) said there is no beef left. So my husband had to change it to chicken instead. After long time waiting for the food , the same lady brought me pasta with mushrooms and lobster!!!! She brought my husband chicken with crisps !!! Once again we informed her that we ordered pasta with mushrooms only and chicken with fried potatoes not crisps. Looked like they didn't have potatoes left so my husband had to opt for fried green plantains. The food took longer to come and we were starving. The portions are very small. My pasta turned out to be ok but my husband's chicken and green plantains were very dry. We ended up paying Alot of money and left the restaurant hungry and drove to another restaurant to eat. I'm sorry to say, but the waitress is not professional at all and she has no clue of the menu offered and what good...
