No one greet you or smile in your face while getting in or out, only frauns and weired stare. The waiter was ignorant and could not help about the size of the plate or quantity. There was an offer to get a mixed grill plate with 30% discount during January but the waiter insisted he did not know the actual coast in order to make me get the mixed grill in the menu without the discount. The waiter did not suggest anything to me but I heard him suggesting and explaining what they had for the next table who came 20 minutes later. The owner was screaming loudly at one of the employees and ordering him to go and change his shirt and shoes in front of the clients although such displain should be in privacy. Although it was a closed space, however people were smoking freely and there is no dedicated corner for non-smokers. The prices are expensive and not matching the food quantities. I don't recommend...
Read moreLet's all agree that Cairo has a serious problem with food. Food is simply BAD here. This evening I ordered a mixed grill meal and a baladi salad from Abu Shakra. Everything about the order was just fine, with two reservations however: rice portion is so small, and the dish presentation was simply primitive (disproportionately big platter, compared to the anemic portions, with scattered pieces of meat and a clumsy little pyramid of rice) Order came fast and warm directly from the grill, this is a huge plus. The place is relatively clean, but it's also very compact with no exterior view. Compared to the price tag of $10, it's a good deal, but when put in the context of regional food capitals such as Beirut or Istanbul, with this price odds become a bit different. 5 stars for good taste, speed, cleanliness and helpful staff. Minus 1 star for little portions and bad...
